lol every time I feel nostalgic and play the Sims 1 again, I'm reminded of how frustrating it is in comparison to its successors.

Anyone else frustrated at James' frustration over the fires when he never asked his Sims to study to get their cooking skills up? lol

After a while of playing sims I could never be bothered to deal with their needs so I would do the move objects cheat, delete my sim and then double click on their face and they come back fully green and happy. Tried it on sims 2 and it just straight up deleted my sim forever. Oops

Oh gosh, Gandalf is practically useless. However, I really enjoy this episodes and I did not notice until towards the end of the video; your house plants are withering away. You need to hire gardner.

Also, in an earlier video when you talked about playing this game in 2000 when you were FIVE... damn I feel old...

I'm starting to understand why people used to complain that it is/was so difficult to tend to their sims's needs. I just multitask all my sims and put the game on pause if I'm not sure they all have something to do ;-)

I have all the expansions installed, always have. I own them all on original disc.

If I remember correctly, in SimCity 4 you could move in any sims you made in the Sims 1. That was cool and always made me want a SimCity game where there was a "Sims" mini-game for the people you specifically moved in.

Let's not forget that the major problem with Sims is how quickly the needs fail. That was one of the big selling points for Sims 4 "less focus on needs" and the multi tasking. Now we see why that was such an improvement

I don't remember having that much troubles taking care of my sims XD I remember it was easier for me. Actually; it got difficult (for me at least) taking care of them in TS2, not TS1. Anyway, the fun was there and what I still love is the music in Buy and Build modes.

this is hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing each time a fire started. You should put bathmats in front of the showers and baths to prevent it from making a mess of water everywhere. When they get married you should have the red heart vibrating bed lol. I always thought it was really weird how they get into it naked.

Its really hard to keep your sims happy in this game! But dont forget about the hot tub you brought, it fills up a lot of your sim's needs so its really useful :) And I never really hire a maid in the sims 2 or 3 but they really help in this game so i always hire one! Really liking this lp its so nice to see studiotown and stuff again as I sold all my expansions!

Also, make sure they are always having fun. That meter runs down REALLY quickly during work or school. Don't let your sims become too unsocialized though. They get depressed.

Through watching these videos of yours recently, and a few other Sims related videos from you and some other people, it's made me want to play The Sims so badly, as it's been many many years since I last did! But the thing is, when I went to look for it the other day, I never found it at all :( there is quite a lot of clutter in my room through, so it could be a buried treasure waiting to be found in some part of it, but I did find all of my Sims 2 games (expansion & stuff packs) in my games/dvd cabinet! Although I don't really want to play The Sims 2, as much as I love it and have spent days/weeks on end playing it years ago, it has a lot more new features than The Sims, but I want to play the good old original stripped down Sims! Hopefully if I find all my expansion packs for that, I can gradually add each one on like we all once did as each one was released for us to buy! :P

When you go to the studio town, the icons at the top act as filters for specific types of activities that the icons represent, and their corresponding lots. I think thats what they do anyway, haven't played this game in ages.

Oh man, how hard is it to keep them happy? XD Crazy buggers. Eat! Sleep! Make a mess! Eat! Sleep! Toilet! Make a mess! ... still amazing. I love the challenge in figuring out how to get a famous sim. Good stuff :)

When I played this game I took away their stove so there wouldn't be any fires. They just made salad and stuff like that instead. Also, get a butler or a maid and don't let them quit. Sims hate it when there is trash and they don't pik it up themselvves. That is how I kept my sims happy. Also, don't throw any parties or socialize very much. When I did it they got depressed. Lastly, don't extinguish fires. My sims died doing this.

Kids will ALWAYS make a mess. Always. Your big bathtub in the on-suite is wrong way. taps should be pointing forward. buy them a toadstool chair for the computer or something, sitting on it will spawn toadstools on the lot. Get a beebox also for honey and beeswax.

Let me tell youall a funny story! Here I was, minding my own business, then I needed to go downstairs with the only laptop that I could play sims on. I put my laptop on the banister, as I needed to bring down a pen as well. I got my pen and returned to my laptop. I picked it up, (with the charger still plugged in) and started walking. I tripped over the wire and dropped the laptop down the stairs. It is now broken. So now I can't play the sims anymore :( Just thought if you have a bad day, remember someone did something funny to cheer you up!

Someone please teach James how to Sim. No matter the game (TS1, TS2, TS3), he always seems lost and overwhelmed. It also seems he never REALLY play the game (mainly TS1, TS2, TS3), he just scratched its surface.

I don't know if you'll read this but here's why you have so many kitchen fires: in Sims 1, you need to have at least 2 points of culinary skill. I noticed that none of your sims have read a single page yet!!! Contrary to Sims 3, you don't obtain skill points by practicing only by reading a book from your bookcase. ;D

Oh man. You should know not to buy them a stove until every adult has at least 2-3 cooking skill points. And you get Magicoins by doing favours to the shopkeepers or by performing on some stages in Magic Town. You got some for charming the snake. You should play on the slowest speed until you remember the game a bit better.

i think i remember -- to reset all their needs dont you have to delete the sim then double click their icon again and they come back with full needs??
