Wow, a basement tool! When I played this a few years ago (when it came out) they didn't have one, thank you poppyssim :-).

CHRIST NEVER THOUGHT ITS THIS EASY, I mean Igot all the expansion, but HELL, I thought it's something hella complicated, but no, it's damn easy.

@YootuberErin u put thet tool on and select the place u want the basement then put stairs

@MASDERCHEEFOrigin Because a foundations is necessary for houses in real life not to fall down (most of the times), on the sims it works if your lot is on a hill, but not for the rea life purpose, since houses on the sims don't fall down

@heathi51 it's basically a little piece of wall that goes under the house, to raise it up a small amount... i have no idea why it's there other than cosmetic value, and the stairs can't go there because it's only about 1/4 of a wall high and there would be no room for the Sim when they went up the stairs.

@tylerdidit45 probably because your house has a foundation, try making the entrance somewhere else, away from the foundation

theres a problem with the pool water now. its black on top and not clear like it used to be. same thing for the poln water too

haha well if I want one on a lot that already has a house, you can do it if the house is on a foundation but you would have to make it bigger than the house because obviously you can't have stairs coming up under the foundation. Either that or just don't make any stairs and have it like a secret lair that you can teleport sims to lol

Dude the same thing is happening to me right now! Just when i select the create basement or pool tool, the game just stops, goes black and it gets me bck to the desktop! Tell me if u already fixed it plz.

@ObamaGoesPostal There is a way, of course. Only it's a bit messy. But it's the only way I know how - inside the house, you need to delete the foundation the size of at least two tiles and make the small stairs to the ground level first, and then from there on, have your large stairs descend into the basement. I suck at explaining. Hope you can decipher that. ;)

Make sure your sims game is up to date. And is your game on the PC? If not, there might not be a Basement Tool.

No wait, I think you have to update to the latest versions. I remember the basement tool without any expansions... (I have two, and have used one then my PC crashed and used the other before installing the next...)

on your build mode pop up, i havent got the basement tool, + i only have the original sims 3, no expansion packs. do you have to have a sims 3 expansion pack to have the basement tool or is there something wrong with my game?
