some other options: 1. placed a double wide standard layout staircase going into the basement as such that the required empty tiles above the staircase butted right up to the side of my cabin, then I used the two roofing parts as described here only I did not extend them past the stairs. I just made them the exact length of the opening. Then I placed a double door down in the location described here. I rotated the door back but instead of using another roof part to cover the space above the door, I scaled the door up to cover the entire space. the doors do become on the larger side but still look nice and function. 2. I also followed the same steps above but instead of scaling the door I placed a shutter on the top gap to mimic the look of wood framing. I imagine there are several items you can use to accomplish the same look.
