But thankfully, it's unlikely. As someone who has been on 2 cruises without emergency, except someone getting an injury on the second cruise, I can say that causing is 99.9% safe to do, if you follow rules of the crew I case it does happen, it's still in that percentage, in some cases it's a case of passengers panic and forget the rules, but this case was because the captain abandoned everyone onboard

The most upsetting thing is most people never go cruising because of things like this happening. To all those people who may be watching this video, please remember, it's very unlikely to happen to you. The lives on the Costa concordia were lost because the captain left everyone else behind, today captains have to promise to let the people of first, I think, hence the saying that "a captain always goes down with his ship". I have been on cruise ships, one passing through the most choppy waters on the planet, and we didn't have any emergency except someone falling sick on the boat, unfortunately meant we were late getting to ever location after that.

English: The captain of the Costa concordia accused of allegedly abandoning the ship in the event of a shipwreck and sentenced to prison for why, a captain is the last person to abandon the ship in the event of a shipwreck. I was meditating for a moment and while my eyes were closed I saw 3 pictures in succession in my minds-eye. The first one was water coming over the sand, the second one was a man with no face but wore a uniform and a hat that appeared to my uneducated eye (and felt) as a uniform that a person from Spain might wear, and the third was that I was looking down (like I was in the sky) at a country that my elementary teacher long ago said, "Looked like a Boot." So immediately I knew it was Italy. I saw the part of the sea that resides around it's edges. I immediately told a friend and asked, "Is Spain next to Italy?" I thought it might, but wanted to make sure. This was the first time this happened to me, so these pictures came out of the blue, to my surprise. I didn't know why and how, or exactly the meaning. Wasn't sure it had a meaning. Then the next day or the day after (it's been almost 11 yrs ago) I heard about the Concordia, the spineless and disgraceful Captain, the many lives lost RIP, and the others living who were/are physically and mentally scarred. A Fisherman's Statue in my hometown reads, in memoriam, "They that go down to the Sea in Ships"1623-1923 [the monument was completed in 1925 to honor 300 years of Gloucester losing fisherman.] Espanol: Estuve meditando por un momento y mientras mis ojos estaban cerrados vi 3 imágenes en sucesión en mi mente. El primero era agua saliendo de la arena, el segundo era un hombre sin rostro pero que vestía un uniforme y un sombrero que a mi ojo inculto me pareció (y sentí) como un uniforme que podría llevar una persona de España, y el tercero fue que estaba mirando hacia abajo (como si estuviera en el cielo) a un país que mi maestro de primaria dijo hace mucho tiempo: "Parecía una bota". Así que inmediatamente supe que era Italia. Vi la parte del mar que reside alrededor de sus bordes. Inmediatamente le dije a un amigo y le pregunté: "¿Está España al lado de Italia?" Pensé que podría, pero quería asegurarme. Esta fue la primera vez que me sucedió esto, por lo que estas imágenes salieron de la nada, para mi sorpresa. Ho pensato che potesse, ma volevo essere sicuro. Questa è stata la prima volta che mi è successo, quindi queste foto sono venute fuori dal nulla, con mia sorpresa. Non sapevo perché e come, o esattamente il significato. Non ero sicuro che avesse un significato. Poi il giorno dopo o il giorno dopo (sono passati quasi 11 anni fa) ho sentito parlare del Concordia, del Capitano senza spina dorsale e disgraziato, delle molte vite perse RIP e degli altri viventi che erano/sono fisicamente e mentalmente sfregiati. @@Iceyxfrost in some cases it's safe to go in an elevator if there's no choice, however a sinking shop is not one of these options as the power fails whilst sinking. Say if there was a fire on a lot of floors of a building, as an example, you're better of using the elevator because it's the only way. But way, in cases of ships sinking, DONT DO IT! YOU'LL BE VERY UNLIKELY TO LIVE.

I was on this ship I was 10 at the time this was the most terrifying experience because I was on the last lifeboat meaning I was onboard most of the sinking it was so scary even on a lifeboat I saw 32 people on the ship and as it slowly tipped over further and further 5 of them swam away Dying in the process I cried so hard from getting on a lifeboat to getting home I Was than in shock for 5 months never risking going on a cruise again Edit:Stop starting war in the replies you don’t have to believe me just don’t reply that i am lying if you don’t believe me than leave it

I was on this ship and I survived and the sinking of when it happened reminded me of sleeping sun (this song) I was looking at the sky praying while tears were coming down. My family has a tragedy it’s a curse since the titanic sank my Great grandparents died on there and my other survived when the costa Concordia was sinking it was a curse passing down through our family. I cried for weeks and months..

The titanic.. those people all died because of 2 factors. 1) not enough lifeboats. 2) one ship nearby saw the flairs, the captain of that shop admitted it, but ignored the warning flare causing more deaths as people couldn't be reached in time. However, in this case, it was because the captain abaoned ship leaving the crew in charge, when it was his job to protect to people.

i remember that i was on that ship when it was sinking, there were dozens of people really scared that theyre gonna drown so my mom got the third lifeboat then i was scared with my dad that the ship is sinking then i got one of the lifeboats, the fact that my mom didnt want me to leave but they forced her to get in the lifeboat, i will never forget that day, R.I.P. all the people died on that tragedy

If you guys don't know about the Lusitania, Lusitania is a ship that got torpedoed and sank below the waves in 16 minutes and touched the ocean floor in 18 minutes, It had a heavy list to starboard which caused passengers to fall and slip.

Captain had traces of cocaine in his hair follicles. They also found traces of cocaine on the ship. Plus, the married captain was "romantically entertaining" a female passenger, who wasn't a paying customer during the incident occurrence.
