It must have been terrifying for those still stuck on her when she’d fully capsized and made further lifeboat escape impossible and the power and lights went out. Gosh I can’t even imagine

I feel bad for the ship, and it's passengers. I don't say this a lot about cruise ships, but the Costa Concordia was a really beautiful ship.... sad

It was the captains fault for leaving the ship and his crew Abandoning their shifts and leaving thousands of people on board along with doing a sign by salute to close to shore when they hit the rock

Ever since the sinking of the Oceanos back in 1991, I always thought Captain Avranas (the captain of the Oceanos) was a modern-day maritime coward, but after the sinking of the Concordia 21 years later, Captain Schettino took it to a whole new level.

And he also had a affair with a lady, claimed he fell into a lifeboat, literally had no remorse for the passengers. The only good thing he did is let the ship drift, or it would’ve actually sunk fully instead of laying on a island

@@IgnitedDevs wouldn't say he's the best captain he ignored ice warnings and charged right through an ice field and full speed. He's just not a pussy like this one. He realized his errors and felt guilty for the people on board and went down with his ship because he knew it was what he was supposed to do

This makes me think of the HMHS Britannic. Both were white ships, landed on their starboard sides when sinking, and had almost the same number of deaths.

True but the Costa Concordia would list to port After hitting the rock's below her but as soon as the caption turned back to the island the Concordia began to list to stsrtboard.

After the ship hit the underwater rocks it went into deeper water. The wind actually blew into shore where in rolled on its side on a rock ledge. The captain claimed he sailed into the shore. If it had sank in deeper water there would’ve been thousands drowned.

He will be released in 2028. He is sentenced to 16 years. So 16 years from 2012 which was the year Concordia sank, is 2028

The captain of ms oceano's did try to abandon the ship but the band caught him And pulled him back on board the captain of the Costa Concordia abandons his passengers but the coast guard then tells him to get back on board the cruise ship 🚢.
