Respect to Patrice Lamumba, Thomas Sankara, Che Guevara, Fela Kuti, Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro, Colonel Ghadaafi & all those who dedicated their lives to the liberation of Africa. Cuba assisted Angola in their fight for freedom. And helped deal a death blow to Apartheid South Africa. There's a reason Cuba was the first place Mandela visited when freed from prison. To thank Fidel for his solidarity. Funny how Ghadaafi was made out to be such a big bad dictator most of his life. But only when he began serious discussions with other African nations about creating a gold based pan-African currency, designed to compete against the USD and eliminate African debt. It's exactly then that US decides to assassinate him & send Libya into chaos. It still hasn't recovered. Allegedly there are now open air slave markets in Tripoli. When Ghadaafi was alive Libya had the best standards of living and most equality between sexes of any African nation. Highest per capita GDP. Highest number of physicians. Highest number of educated women. Almost zero homelessness or even illitGreedy. Why destabilize all that?? Greed.

Maybe 15 years ago the Skatalites played in a wee pub in Inverness Scotland. A very lovely wee old lady sat at our table while we watched the band. We hardly noticed her the band were rocking.. About half way through up she went to the stage and joined the band..... OMG!!

20 years ago I had the luck that the original and legendary Skatalites drummer Lloyd Knibb gave me his drum sticks (I was a drum stick collector at this time) and I could talked to him for some minutes in the backstage area. That was a really stunning and inspiring moment for me.
