Imagine going to sleep and not waking up for eight months. This extraordinary behaviour is normal living for about 500 people around the world - including three Australians - who suffer from one of the world’s most bizarre conditions - Kleine-Levin Syndrome otherwise known as Sleeping Beauty Disease.

I can’t imagine what she goes through. Believe me no teenager wants to sleep their life away they want to be present for all the fun but unfortunately sleeping beauty syndrome robs them of this. Blessings to everyone with health and happiness.

At 14 my daughter got struck down by a sleeping illness. Not to this extent but it was pretty bad

Don’t you find, sadly, that it seems that if modern doctors can’t Rx a pill for it, they lose interest completely. I HOPE no one else has had these medical issues and the doctors I’ve had. 🙃

In the 1920s there was a major outbreak of this. Scientists still don’t understand what caused it, but it hurt so many people. I’m sorry your child had this.

Sleeping beauty is based on a real character. There are probably cases of Sleeping beauty syndrome thousand years ago and that inspired the Sleeping beauty.

Wow I finally have a name for what I have been experiencing for years... Sleeping for weeks, just waking up for 1-4 hours sometimes to eat or take a shower. I am way older than those kids tho and I don't act like one when I am awake. I also can remember most of the things I am doing. So not sure if I fall into that category.

I can't really remember anything from the last 9 years. And had a total kognitiv breakdown in 2016, I think. Work related.

@@activatewindows I could not talk, think, plan, organize, lost my ballance, didn't agree with light and noise, and my memory was more or less turned off. And it all came like a flash from a clear sky. The doctors thought I was suffering from a depression. And they still do.

I have suffered from some sort of sleeping disease for most of my life. My dad litterly nick named me ripp van winkle because i slept so much. When it hits me you can put a thumb tack under my butt and i will still fall asleep....nothing will keep me awake. I have learned to live with it.

I believe it's a blessing in disguise. God is on their side. Hes given those girls loving, understanding, supportive and patient parents. Wouldn't like to think how these girls would turn out if they didn't. Just lying beside them and holding their hand can do wonders 😇 These girls also sound cute when talking 💕🤗
