The American kestrel is a minuscule bird of prey which can be found all across North and South America. Recently, I had the rare chance to interact with this amazing animal, and show you their incredible features up close! Click the link below to learn more about kestrel conservation:

If you've made it this far in the description, remember to be safe when creature adventuring! Most wild animals can cause injury if harassed, and I do not recommend attempting to capture any creatures without purpose and practice. The reason that I interact with wildlife is to produce these educational videos, and I am confident in my abilities to handle creatures such as a kestrel because I have years of zoology experience under my belt. Also, I always ask permission from a land owner before exploring on their property, and you should do the same.
Keep adventuring everywhere, and keep your adventures safe at all times!

Kestrels are so gorgeous. It's easy to forget that they're birds of prey, not simply because they're so small, but because they don't have that hard, ferocious glare like larger species. We had one in our yard some years ago, blown in by a big thunderstorm. He must've been sick or injured or something, because he was really quiet and timid, bordering on cautiously friendly. I had to babysit him because he kept getting attacked by the robins and sparrows when I set him in a tree so the cat couldn't get him.

are these in arizona because there was a bird in backyard the size of dove eating another bird,it looked like this and was def a falcon.im convinced this was the bird as it was also wagging tail up and down the only difference was the bird seemed a little lighter in color and didnt have such dark featheres?
@TheWildReportOfficial
@TheWildReportOfficial Жыл бұрын
Hmm, interesting. I'm not familiar with your birds, but it's definitely possible there are other small falcons out there with similar body plans but different plumage. If not, maybe it was a juvenile without mature plumage.

Really like your passion and you seem genuine with wanting to do this. Good on you. I think you can do better if you show some of the features you describe on the animals or their behaviors. Maybe sampling clips or something else to help people visualize their traits and capabilities more. Try not to record in too many different areas all for the same vid too. Keep it up!

How do you pester you’re perants to get one
@hamstermc7807
@hamstermc7807 3 жыл бұрын
Parents aren’t the only obstacle in acquiring and keeping a kestrel! They are raptors, and to legally have one, you must have a falconry license; according to federal regulations in the U.S, this means passing a written test, having an enclosure suitable for the animal according to regulation, and last but not least, having an experienced falconer agree to take you on as an apprentice. The reason it’s so complicated to get legal permission to practice falconry is that it is a very big commitment! A falconer must be skilled and knowledgeable on the birds they keep as well as conscious of the impact of keeping their bird(s). Birds of prey are very capable of injuring themselves or people if not treated properly, with their sharp claws and beak, and likelihood to freak out when feeling threatened. They are one of the most fragile types of animal to keep in captivity, needing a large wooden outdoor enclosure (in a place with weather they can tolerate) and constant attention. The health problems they face are often hard to spot as well as being quick killers, so you must be trained in caring for your bird in sudden crisis situations. You can’t take a vacation from your bird, and you can’t call a friend to watch it, since they don’t have that knowledge. Falcons also have natural instincts that mean you must allow them to hunt, and local wildlife they catch may upset the ecosystem, another reason for strict regulations. I hope I’ve helped you to learn a bit about the hard but awesome responsibility of falconry! If you want to own a kestrel or other bird of prey, I’d say go for it! As long as you put in the passion and effort to do all those things outlined by the law, and commit to learning from a trained falconer, I think it would be pretty hard for your parents to say no!
