It's really impressive how phones screens are now clearly ahead of actual monitors and had been pushing lots of screen tech to masses. OLED, PLS became as good as they are mostly due to phones. And now we get 10 bit displays for manageable cost. If you wanted to get something like that in laptop, you just couldn't and for desktop you would need to pay thousands for professional screen, then several hundreds for professional workstation card. It's really impressive that such technologies are becoming available in phones and relatively inexpensively.

It's "technically" not one cause he didn't say if the phone was good or not, or worth it. I'm betting Oppo only let him have the phone to show off the camera feature and he wasn't legally allowed to review it. It pretty much is a review, cause he tells us all the specs and stuff. But what's missing is stuff like telling us how the picture quality holds up to something like samsung's or apple's or how long the battery lasts, or the price. Honestly though, this phone has bumped up to the top of my list for my next phone.

Yup, most features Chinese companies introduce as 'futuristic' or 'game-changing' actually turn out to be gimmicks for the most part before Samsung or Apple perfects the tech. That's kind of always been Apple's schtick. Yes, they're (almost) always late to the party, but they're also the most well-dressed for the party.

But you can't deny that this is a gimmick...

And you know what's funny? I have a Poco F2 Pro by Xiaomi and by using it's micro cam, I can take the same photos, I'm not exaggerating, exactly the same photos that he took with this microscope phone, plus, I can also record videos in micro lens mode and the quality looks Amazing. I recorded this spider and I could see her eyes, mouth, "stings", hair and everything.. I could see it eating a bug so clear that it seemed like something you would only see on Discovery Channel. I was watching this video like "but I can do the same with my Poco" it's not like it's a new feature that never existed before. And the funny thing is that, I've never seen anybody talking about how amazing the micro lens on Poco F2 Pro is, because most of people didn't even bothered to check that. If Apple or Samsung had that on their phones, I'm pretty sure all the reviewers would be hyping that up, they would never let that pass unnoticed.

@@Natsukashii1111 i wouldn't see it as a replacement of an actual microscope, but it is a tool that to some people might come in very handy and even save time compared to setting up a field microscope, it obviously depends on the application but say you are a biologist looking for plants, the quality of this is more than enough to be able to distinguish important features, and even mores so, you can while observing, take pictures for later reference, now this is not anything new, but combining it into a phone takes a lot of steps out of the process... I do agree with you on the point about the actual quality of the phone, I wouldn't buy the cat phone, even though the thermal camera is very useful, the phone has so many downsides by its self that it would outweigh the actual usefulness of the added "feature", id much rather have a good phone and have to deal with a separate thermal camera than have a phone with a thermal camera but have to deal with a lesser quaility phone... this one however, the phone itself seems great, and the microscope could be considered a gimmick, but the quality seems to be such that it would actually prove useful as a feature..

Doesn't really bother me though because I love the case that comes with it, which essentially makes it a matte black phone and it doesn't really feel like there's a case in there because the phone is low profile anyway

You could get a cheap or cheap-ish USB microscope with a USB ring light. Just plug it into a phone and off you go to explore the world of tiny stuff. They start at $10 and work great for job. I use one all the time for soldering micro drones and such.

Indeed. For those who find this interesting, you can actually buy a macro lens that clips onto your phone for around $12. Definitely isn't as microscopic as this, but still pretty fun to try it out.
