It won't have another accident, the accident was caused by a loophole in the operations (which has been fixed now, the operations are different). I wouldn't worry about that

For the bookworms out there the theming seams very 1984 esk what with the ministry of joy reference, as in the book that department was in charge of punishment and torture as a means to make you fall in line with the dictatorship, so it’s like this is one of there devices

I rode the Smiler when I was on holiday in England back in 2014. The accident defiantly put a damper on things. Don't tear it down, just make sure this doesn't happen again. AWESOME COASTER!! Next time I'm there will definitely ride it again.

@@TheGamingTranny not necessarily there are some really good coasters in the USA. I am a roller coaster fan and had to do them when we were at Alton Towers. I liked the smiler, but my favorite is nemesis.

This coaster is actually creepy. I haven’t been on it but you realize everyone that goes on it smiles even if they are scared. Whenever I listen to the theme, it makes me start laughing and smiling. And the fact that the accident happened and the music was still on.... Imagine being on that and it’s just laughing at you... Still looks like a great coaster with great theming. It’s litterally themed to itsself lol

SCP 2002-The Smiler Wyvern: 12 weeks after The Smiler reopened in Alton Towers, The Smiler Wyvern has been spotted. The anomalyous powers seem to be tied to some sort of illusionary need for emotional correction. The corrections are the ones tied to the ride, but real with real-permanent-effects on the human psyche. Symptoms of this anomaly contact include over-happy nature, psycho smiling, and insane laughter. Avoid at all costs if you don't want in a mental ward.

it's simply amazing how hypnotizing this coaster actually is, despite the fact that an accident once happened on it. Without any of the fictional treatments, people are still obsessed. I say that we all belong to the smiler :)

You watch this video, and you see and hear people screaming and laughing with joy (hah) and just enjoying themselves and enjoying being on this ride. I'm thinking....why was this ride so demonized? Why, when people have died on amusement park rides?I I mean the accident was horrible. I'm not throwing the victims under the bus, but why does this ride get such a bad rep when people have actually died on coasters?

Just a Mika because they haven’t been on it themselves so they will automatically judge straight away I’m ngl I was terrified to ride the smiler last year it was the first ride I went on, on my 19th birthday I came to love it that much honestly I had to have a few more rides on it and I am happy to say I have the opportunity to go back to Alton towers with my work crew on the 13th of this month and I will be riding wickerman for the first time then I’m going on the smiler has to be done xx

The British media outlets continue to batter Merlin for little reason. They have had a vendetta with Alton Towers and other Merlin parks for years. It’s a cheap story to milk for exposure and recognition. It’s so easy to blow a story like this out of proportion and they did just that, and so because of the huge influence the media has on the general public, the gullible sods that they are, they also make assumptions and judgements about the industry. Sad really

Probably because it is so new if a concept 14 loops you've got to realise that's a lot of loops. So when it's new and something goes wrong and is especially special the media can get every drip of drama and fear. People fear what they don't understand

Couldn't agree more! I'm from the States with virtually no chance of being able to ride this and it still bothers me to no end the demonization of this coaster. Meanwhile Disneyland's Thunder Mountain had an incident where a man died and 10 people were injured due to "improper maintenance" and yet to this day people keep happily riding it. Even when it made the news, there were no calls from the public for Disneyland to tear the ride down, not like there was with the Smiler.

Its 2020 and people still think it shouldnt be around THE CRASH WAS 5 ALMOST 6 YEARS AGO . After it happend Alton towers asked the employes to hand out free mearch of the smiler to try and get people to ride it . Alton towers spent 18million to build this and probibly another 2million to repair it and make it safer . What els do you ask of them to put 1 cart on at a time?! No that ride can take up to 5 carts so put 4 carts on it not 1 . If they did then the Line would be over 6 hours long since it’s so popular. They never put 5 carts on it cause they don’t have 5 carts due to the crash Plus . 👏🏻IT👏🏻WAS👏🏻A👏🏻HUMAN👏🏻ERROR👏🏻 SO THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO MAKE THE RIDE SAFER BUT THEY DID . The thing Alton towers care the most about is safety and they got rid of the employee who was responsible and it was a accident (obviously) but Alton towers couldn’t take any chances since it cost them 5million (and that’s pounds not dollars )

This is the best ride ever made. I would of went on it when it first opened but the que was 4 hours so didn't have enough time. went to Alton towers last Friday and got to go on it 5 times in one day and I loved it. the only thing I noticed they didn't have on what I seen In this video is all the projection when you get inside, there was only a strobe light but still enjoyed the ride!

@@DJRAV3woof no, he means the full one and by the full one im quite sure he means the: 45 minute main soundtrack 10 minute correction block soundtrack 10 minute station soundtrack 5 minute exit corridor soundtrack and 5 minute shop soundtrack to clarify, the only way to get all of that is to get another person (who would have to be really trusting you dont use it publically since they would get into trouble for that) that got it off a website years ago before merlin and IMAscore took it down
