Versailles....
I figured this video is already so overedited that I refuse to add any more distrubance. I did not have the heart to cut these songs with this transition...

Not true. Andy and Mike never disputed the publishing (songwriting) percentages. It was the mechanical royalties (as in the royalties for playing on the recordings) and the live fees etc. In other words, Johnny and Moz got 50% each for the most lucrative aspect of the band's revenue (the publishing) AND Johnny and Morrissey also got 40% each of all other revenue, such as gigging revenue and recording royalties. Andy and Mike got just 10% each for all the gigs they played over the course of the band's lifespan, and received only 10% each for the royalties payable for all the band's recordings they played on.

Once again, Rourke wrote his own bass lines. If you read some of the old interviews with Marr it's quite clear that Marr input only what any guitarist would do when the bassist presents an initial idea for a line. IE Rourke would be working on a bass part and Marr might suggest what he would like to hear from it. What is less known is that Rourke and Marr played together long before the formation of the Smiths, so they were very aware of each others playing.

@markmozmarr Heavy accent on the "IF". Lots of dispute and discussion over Ringo too. I will say I think Joyce's peak moment was "The Queen Is Dead". THAT is a great drum part. Shame that now on top of trying to get over the Morrissey/Marr hurdle to a reunion now we have a Morrissey/Joyce one too. I hate to think we'll never see it but I think this IS one we will never see.

Marr wrote pretty much all the music of The Smiths (Morrissey did 'wrote' the vocal melodies over the music). But if someone else writes music for you, you're always gonna put your own touch on it. So I think it's 70/30 (Marr/Rourke) or so. Might be wrong of course.

If there WAS a weak member of the band it would be Mike Joyce. He was great but he didn't do anything that was unique. I don't think there is any dispute of Morrissey's talent lyrically, Andy Rourke's supreme bass talent and all you need to hear from Johnny Marr is the guitar to "This Charming Man" to know he was genius.
