Hello, I am Free The Culture, sneaker enthuasist and streetwear influencer. I have been into fashion since I was a teenager. I always enjoy anime and music, this passion led me to express myself through my clothing.

Oh don’t get me started with Ticketmaster. That entire system is corrupted. Ticketmaster works just like eBay does with buyer sellers profits. They allow the scalpers to buy 90/% of the seats and then when the scalper sells it to the attended at the higher price Ticketmaster gets a percentage from that. And what makes that vicious circle continue are the sheep that continue to buy that exaggerated price for every show. Frustrating to know a ticket for a show is retailed for $80-$150 but resold for $800-$1k that’s just criminal.

Selection paralysis. Great phrase happens to me all the time. My rules for myself are simple if I really like a shoe and it's sold out I'll pay 40-50 bucks above the original retail price. If I love a shoe and must have it I'll go double the original retail price BUT if they want one cent past that it's either forget about it or it's UA time.

The best thing I ever did was sale my shoe collection back 2015/16 back in my 20's. 2 things happened: Young lady told me women aren't impressed with these shoes. Essentially she told me I'm buying shoes to impress other men. Lmao The other thing I realized is I found chucks and vans way more comfortable. Ever since then, I purchased shoes based on utility and comfort. Not to appear "fly" or "stunt". Part of the growing up process I guess.

The decline of that is more to do with physical media of those (in working condition) is harder to come by now. Especially desired 1st party games. On top of the younger generation not being interested in physical media as they’re not ones who grew up with it. The biggest consumer for physical retro gaming is millennials and older

I can see what you're saying but I really don't think that's the main case here. One of the main reason people aren't dropping crazy money on shoes is because the economy is fucked, people aren't working as much anymore. You missed a key component. You go on about the reseller like thats the biggest issue and the truth of the matter is, its not. You dont talk about the collaborators who backdoor their own shoes for profit (TR, AMA, TS, GD, etc.) or Nike raising their prices every year on shoes. Consumers have taken some control back and its not solely b/c of resell and reps markets. Its b/c of the actual cost. Jordans cost $200+ for the shittest quality made shoe. Nike as a brand is not innovative or creative anymore. They rely on the wayback machine to give them the next big hit since everything is retro. Shoe tech hasnt changed and everyone isnt willing to pay $$$ for sneakers they cant wear all day. Thats why Nike and Adidas are failing

Idk if you’ve noticed or not but the economy is actually fucked rn. 6-7 years ago shit was still cheap in grocery stores. Now we have more things to worry about from politics to gas prices. Also Nike started dropping a bunch of bs instead of keeping the hype around the actual good shoes so now we got weird ass colorways of 1s and 4s that nobody wants. If they were still dropping retro good colorways I’m sure nothing would have changed but nike got greedy and saw how much ppl like 1s and 4s and started dropping the most random bullshit.

I was a shoe collector for over a decade. Started when i was a freshman in high school and throughout college, but about a year ago I stopped because every shoe drop was “limited” or a collab of some kind. Shops would even raffle off GR dunks 🤣🤣🤣. The artificial scarcity/hype these brands created started to become cringe to me. I been rocking chuck 70s all year and they go with everything! 🫡
