It's even not really close, it's homonym. "Соль" means both salt and note G. Also it means "sense" or "point" in some occasions. For example, question "В чём соль?" can be translated as "What's the sense?" or "What's the point?". In the song you can see this meaning in the last line of the chorus, where "Соль нашей жизни - море, флот" can be translated as "The sense of our life - sea, fleet".
