Joe, another great story behind the song! I remember my older sister playing Heartbreak Hotel over and over! Of course I became an instant Elvis fan, even though I just turned 3 years old! Thanks for sharing this awesome interview!💫

Great interview. I find it interesting how the studio's used , I don't know what to call it , "Ghost " singers to present the artist with a demo of another singer , singing the song in the artist's nuances & wotnot. I remember seeing a video tape clip from Ready Steady Go! in England, where PJ Proby mimes to "Hold Me" and is then interviewed by the presenter , Keith Fordyce , and Proby says he had previously been a studio singer , singing on all the demos for Elvis's motion picture soundtracks where he had to mimic Elvis's style . Fascinating .

Another killer interview, Joe. Here's a good one for you: I pitched several of my songs to Tree, but kept getting rejected. I finally figured out that since I self-published, they didn't want nothing to do with me. Lol

I was too far ahead of the curve for my own good. I believed in my songs and wasn't willing to let go of more than 25% of the splits. As a result, I'm proud, yet pretty much broke. Lol

Hi Blue....... that’s funny.... when my band was on the nightclub circuit we played Aint Gonna Bump by Joe Tex. I guess it was around 1976/7 during the disco craze and it filled the dance floor every time. We just did it as a joke but actually it was kinda fun to play especially when you see people dancing and having fun. Thanks again for watching Blue.... Joe

Loved the mention of Homer and Jethro. I loved their appearances on The Jimmy Dean Show when I was in grade school. Since then, I've bought their music on the web. Joe, I'd love to see you talk to Weird Al. Did H&J influence or inspire him?
