What I found so funny is that Tony turned to a 10 year old girl and asks her if she knows of some obscure song made decades before she was born.

@@justing7490 He dogs Janice all the time. But this time he swung for the fences. Subject would be akin to ur buddies laughing about your dad beating your mom and walking out on you and your sister. If you take into consideration why he did it….bc Janice was trying with her anger management classes and Tony wanted to bring her back down…that was 100% something Livia would do. Kinda like her comments about Richie not coming home. Smiling while she said, “Ohh, he probably jilted her. Story of her life.” Janice is a despicable character, but a parent shouldn’t ever say hurtful things like that to their children.

In my hometown, there is a restaurant called "Harpo's Restaurant" My mom and I are huge Sopranos fans. Every time we drove past it , I would always say "I wonder where Harpo is eating his Sunday dinner" 😂 This will probably always be my favorite scene from the Sopranos.
@marklausche198
@marklausche198 6 жыл бұрын
You don’t get the full effect of this scene without what happens right before it. Bobby has insisted that Janice go to anger management classes to curb her Sopranos temper. She actually makes progress and is at peace with herself and coming along nicely when they invite Tony over for dinner. He notices how she has changed and is not easily pissed off. This pisses Tony off, sort of jealous, so he obviously thinks to himself “oh really Janice? You’re not a hothead miserable F like me anymore? Let’s see, what subject can I bring up the really test you? Oh yeah! Harpo”

The only time I ever felt bad for Janice(minus the Richie BS). She made progress and was doing so good and Tony could tell and was jealous because Janice had only been in anger management for a short period and was significantly improving, while Tony had been in therapy for years and years and nothing changed for him. So he wanted to bring her back down. Misery loves company. Tony isn't a good person and he never was throughout the whole series, but this was a low blow even for him, considering it was his sister, plus the kids there.

This is one of so many examples of why the show is so great. The acting here is as good as it gets. TV Hollywood whatever. It's like the two of them are having an acting face off of pure skill . The looks between them. The genuine emotion and psychology of the scene. The realness. The atmosphere. Tension. Camera work. Everything. It's spot on. It's one of if not my favourite scene from the show. Finished with a beautiful piece of music. That fits like it was made for that moment. Perfection. Sadly I don't think there will never be a show like it. The best thing in TV ever in my opinion.

This scene hits hard if you’ve ever had to endure such mentally twisted people in your own family. We all love the show, naturally. But if you’ve ever been forced to deal with someone this extreme in your own family, somebody who truly extracts joy and delight in tearing down others, then you KNOW from experience just how NOT funny it is when you actually have to live it. Especially if you’ve ever made serious progress in your life with something you’ve battled for many years. But this is also a wonderful testament to Gandolfini’s genius; it is one of those remarkably special scenes that really shows his acting prowess. That smirk he gives, just gets me every time. I’ve been on the receiving end of that same spiteful shit-eating grin more times than I can count and it just gets my blood boiling. My cousin and my brother are both EXACTLY like this, maybe even a little worse. In my cousin’s case, he has done precisely this over dinner with the family. And no one in the family ever challenges him because they are all afraid he’ll target them next for abuse, should they land in his crosshairs. So they all laugh instead.

Tony didn't give a shit about Ralph's compassion for his kid or him being slightly less of a sociopath (towards humans) after the accident. He killed him because of the horse. He wasn't jealous of Janice's work on her rage as much as he couldn't resist shitting on her happiness and he knew that bringing up her son would get under her skin. It's hilarious that he asked a 10 year old girl if she knew the name of some song from 20 years before she was born just so he could make Janice snap. "Sacre bleu!! Where is me mama?"😂😂😂😂

@@whowouldcare542 Lol I only meant that most people here consider that Tony was jealous of Janice but this is not the case here Whether Janice indeed truly repented or not on Tony's point of view she is a hypocrite I mean you can't blame him I remember when she portrayed herself as devout Christian and yet snorting coke 🤣🤣

I disagree with the song choice in the end, should be the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme song.

Lol at all the people here taking Janice's side in this. Janice was acting like her shit don't stink and Tony brought her back down to reality. It made him sick how she was acting like super mom to kids that aren't even hers and were already raised by Bobby and Karen but her own son is possibly a homeless drug addict who grew up without her. Janice needed to he brought down a couple pegs.
