FUN FACT: On the day of Tony's attempted murder, he buys orange juice from the newsstand. The show writers has said that the scene was a homage to The Godfather film when Don Vito buys oranges from the fruit stand just moments before he get's shot too.😉

Junior was a great boss, he told tony how gigi was a mistake for captain over Ralph, how Christopher is a loose cannon w his drugs, and he even told tony the secret to being boss is to steer the ship the best you can, even if everybody isn't happy. Uncle junior, criminal mastermind

I think a good contrast to Junior is Avon. Like Junior, Avon is prideful and low-key but he feels in charge because he's decisive and makes his own decisions. Avon radiates power to the point that even when he's not on-screen his presence is strongly felt but with Junior even when he's on-screen you have to remind yourself he's the boss.

I watched a reaction the other day from 2 expressionless robots who have convinced themselves they are witty and interesting. I couldn't even finish watching. The climax (last 2 eps) is good, but overall the first season was Chase and the writers trying to figure out what they were doing. 2 and 3 are really good, 5 is good, and I'm in the minority really liking both parts of 6. I don't really remember much from 4.

The show isn't going to get more focused for reasons you'll see it'll actually see after Season 2 it's gonna diverge more and more as the seasons go on, with a tiny thread of that main plotline running through, connecting all the extra side stuff, if you want this to be the type of show that always tackles the main plot you'll be disappointed. The creator David Chase always described the show as a "show about nothing" like Seinfeld in his own words. The side stuff and the way Tony handles all that is the main plot in many ways.

@@FriendRequestReviews yea I get ya, but man why would he walk over to tony’s window when he’s got a gun, might as well have walked up with a butterknife, and how does he aim at Tony’s head and shoot the orange juice glass 🤣 pretty awful, but season 1 isn’t the high point of the show imo, I’d say that’s the final season - it just keeps getting better like brba and bcs!

Disagree with this just a bit. The scene feels wonky because thats how Sopranos shoots action, no dramatized shots and it feels very bumbling, probably how these types of things play out irl with no cinematic feel. I also used to feel a certain way about such a close call, but theres enough for me to excuse it. Tony was shot through the ear and into one of the hitmen which isn't the most improbable thing in the world, but thats subjective. Not only that, before the first failed hit one of the hitmen says "Remember, nothing above the neck." So clearly there were directions they had to follow, and i honestly just blame the direction of the scene on incompetent hitmen.
