I can't even joke about this, this is one of the best compilation about the whole animal blundetto situation. Tony had to make a really hard decision, and for the better or the worst he acted decisively. The constant balls breaking is nice but that's the shit that made me fall in love with the Sopranos in the first place.

I watched that episode for the first time last night and when Tony was staring at his painting and looking at his hat and scabbard, I knew that he knew what he had to do. To be decisive and support his soldiers, as any good general would do

You're going through the series for the first time? Dude gtfo if you don't want season 6 and the ending spoiled, if they haven't been already. I don't understand why people do this, going on reddit or KZfaq about a show they are in the process of watching. Back on topic, I didn't pick up on that exactly. First watchthrough, so many things I didn't observe or notice, and even had to read the episodes I have just watched on Wikipedia so I understand what's going on. Even in my second watchthrough, I don't notice everything, and other people say they have watched the show ten times and still haven't picked up on everything. But that is one of the qualities of the show: subtlety and stuff. You don't have Tony talking to himself here as he looks at the painting "I guess I gotta kill him after all" as lower class writing would have it.

@@strikersshadow3015 It's no big deal I've known about the ending of the sopranos since it aired, it was big news back then. That's why it's not really that big of a deal. But regarding being able to pick up the show's non verbal storytelling, I've done a lot of writing so it's really easy for me to see all of this stuff. Like when Tony was in a coma and he fell down the stairs, I saw the fall coming a mile away due to how the camera shots were designed: close, tight shots with quick cuts and the camera moving a lot. All of it is designed to build tension without saying a word. I fucking love this show

The way Melfi dominates Tony, cuts through his posturing and gives him his medicine in that last scene is part of what makes this show an all time great; such incredible character development. Literally no one ever dared talking to Tony like that on such a personal level. The power dynamic shift is fascinating. Gabagool.

Tony lost the respect of many of his guys with this dithering. Made guys were mouthing off about him openly between themselves. You could see it as the turning point for his eventual downfall. And it was all because of his unresolved hidden shame about Blundetto and its connection to Livia. What a cidrule.

He actually gave his thoughts. In the last moments of that scene Junior became lucid and he said “he wasn’t made” referring to Billy, Phil’s brother. Meaning Tony shouldn’t give up one of his own for someone that isn’t a made guy.
