I’m 17 played DS2 and 3 with my dad and a buddy of his when the games first came out, always made it 1/4 of the way through and just stopped playing enjoyed it always remembered the stupid stuff we did, ER came out they asked me if I wanted to play it with them, said it was like just like Dark Souls, I was like sure why not I enjoyed what little I played in those, got the game played through to Rennala they called it for the night I stayed kept playing, eventually I had gotten so far ahead of them i slowed down and started pvp until they caught up with me, unexpectedly got hooked on pvp for a few months, eventually beat the game. At about 300 hours decided I wanted to 100% the game, did that 1000+ hours later finally got bored, remembered Dark Souls reinstalled them Started with 3 beat it, pvped, ended with 300+ hours moved to DS2 beat that nightmare stupid Alonne, stupid smelter demon, stupid stupid, Love you Ivory King❤️ Beat that with 200+ hours moved to the the 1st DS loved that sooooo much tbh I don’t know how much time I have in that but it was an amazing experience fighting Seath, Gwyndolin, Quelaag so fun and then it gets even better in the DLC Artorias ohh and Kalameet coolest freaking dragon ever!! All of these games are definitely gonna be in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

My first Souls experience was Demon’s Souls on the PS3 in 2010. I think I was 17 when I first played it. The Souls games really are some of the best games out there. It’s cool to see these games from the perspective of a teen today.

This video was excellent, nice job man! It takes a good amount of initiative to be able to put yourself out there, and it felt like a time-warp for me. I first played Dark Souls when I was 16 years old when the game came out in 2011, and it has been a founding pillar in who I am today. Although not that long ago, the world is a very different place than it was 13 years ago, but it is a testament to these games that younger people can feel the same things that many of us felt over a decade ago. Your dad was right, people did not like Dark Souls 2. I was one of them, but as I grew up and matured I learned to like it for what it was trying to do and not what I wanted it to be. I have two cousins who are teenagers and they didn't know what Dark Souls or Elden Ring was without me, most of the games they play are mobile games with not much creativity in gameplay or story and world building, and it's great to see someone around their age playing through these games and sharing what they feel about them. Keep up the good work, but remember to just have fun. You're still a kid but from this small video it seems like you got good parents and a bright future ahead of you.

My first dark souls was DS1 I played when I was 11 years old. It was a game that frustrated me too much but every corner of the game motivated me to play. It was something I had never experienced with any other game.

I'm 29 going on 30 this year and glad to see the younger generations appreciate these games.

I'm 14 and I absolutely love these games, their combat and lore is the closest to flawless I've seen in a video game. When I first played Dark Souls 3 I could not beat Gundyr at all and I played awfully, quit at Abyss Watchers. Returned a few years later and beat it after finishing Elden Ring, then experienced the others. I've had so much fun 100%ing these games.

Im 16, turning 17 soon and Elden ring is arguably my second favourite game of all time. It was the first game I ever platinum'd and the reason I never did it with other games was because it would probably burn me out but I genuinely loved platinuming elden ring. I recently finished DS1 and now Im playing through DS3 (yes I skipped DS2 lol) trying to do all bosses and majority of the side quests. Once Im done with that, I'll play BB (played for an hour prior to playing DS1 just to see how it was) then sekiro (techincally my first soulsborne game but I only played it for a few hours so I dont really count it as if I played it) it's good to know another fellow teenager loves these games and you just earned a sub because of that brother!

I played Dark Souls 1 back in 2015, as a 15 year old back then, fully blind. Sucked at it came back and finished it a year later. And my love for Fromsoft games only grown. Here's to many more gravity deaths, poison swamps and feet. 🤘 (And yeah Ds2 is by far the best game they've made.)

I have played dark souls 3 probably like 3000 hours worth cuz of pvp so I cant not say its my favorite, since game play, bosses, art, and enemies were all the best in the entire series. Dark Souls 2 original is amazing and I love the game aside from heal animation and slow animations, i frames etc... Dark Souls 1 and 2 I both played when I was like 8 or 9 and so that type of game will remain my favorite forever. Very good video!

Rigth. Confession time. Dark Souls 2 was the first game I ever bought on steam. It was 2016 and I was 14 and I'd never played anything on PC what wasn't either a lego game or minecraft. I've still not beaten it to this day. I've platinumed both DS1, 3 and Elden Ring, I've beaten all the free major overhauls for DS3 and ER, but every time I load DS2 I'm reminded of the bad memories from the time my father was still around and I can't bring myself to beat it. With all that said, I completely agree with you that it is the best game in the series. I love it to death, it's just that it's tied to bad history for me and that's prevented me from ever beating it.

Lol, nicely done. While I'm no longer a teenager, I get where you're coming from. For me, Elden Ring was my first Souls game, and ever since I first played it back in 2021, I've been obsessed with Souls games, with Elden Ring becoming my #1 favorite game. I've only began playing Dark Souls in more recent history (I had to take a break from it though because I was cursed not only once by the Basilisks, but once again after having cured myself after I suffered grinding for the 6k souls needed to buy the cure... I'll come back to it again though, don't worry), and while it's a bit janky (I got a free copy of DS Prepare to Die Edition off of the Internet Archive), I've been enjoying it. It's fairly different (and harder) in comparison to Elden Ring, but the interconnectivity of everything makes for a mindblowingly cool experience. I can't wait to play through the rest of the Souls franchise.

as a teen I played stuff on PS2... souls games came later in times were I could not afford PS3 or PS4... it's nice young generation still appreciate gaming in it's pure form that requires more attention and patience than instant gratification blasted with memes and vomit of flashing lights.

loved ds2 mainly due to its atmosphere and the amount of secrets it has. Im a huge fan of berserk, which is a big inspiration for dark souls, and i feel 1 and 2 perfectly balance the beauty and horror in a similar way that berserk does. e.g. majula and black gulch. im also a teenager but only started gaming when i was around 13-14 when fortnite was becoming popular ( I remember fortnite because it was the first game other than minecraft i played) then i played the souls series around 2020 onwards and liked all of them

They all have that sense of wonder and a though challenge that I can bitch about to my friends after I had played each one and my friends are still stuck on the tutorial. And yes I have watched VaatiVidya and the lore is great. You don’t need to be a 30 year old capital G Gamer with a huge brain to like or understand Souls games. Souls games are my favorite kind of games.

19 now, 15 when I started my first souls game (that being DS3) and having put in well over 900 hours combined (967.9h to be exact, yes I keep track of this shit on Backloggery), earning the plat on everything but Demon's Souls and its remake (I'm in the process of that on both versions though), I'd just like to say "thank you for changing my life fr 😭". If it weren't for this series I probably wouldn't get the perspective that games can have an artistic and philosophical value more profound than almost any other medium, as I only used to play online competitive games up until then. This led me to discovering countless other titles/franchises from all sorts of genres and generations, but I'll never forget the souls series as being the first🖤 Despite my usual pattern of liking the first entry I played in a franchise the most (admittedly due to some sort of nostalgia built up), in souls' case it was quite the opposite - having played Bloodborne as the last out of the series, it quickly rose to become my most favourite of them, if not my #1 game of all time. Elaborating on why that is the case would probably deserve an entire video - there's more than enough of those from other users already - rather than a dozen lines of text in a niche comment section, though I can easily summarize my thoughts into admitting that I am a sucker for lovecraftian horror. It should be of no surprise then that another favourite game of mine is the Persona 2 duology, but I digress. Actually, I've never really shared nor discussed with other people who've played all the souls games the games' tierlist and this might be a good opportunity to do so: Bloodborne > Dark Souls (Remastered) > Dark Souls III > Sekiro > Dark Souls II (SotFS) > Demon's Souls (2009) > Elden Ring > Demon's Souls (2020) I have my reasons for the placements and would really like to hear the opinions of others. The entries in the middle section (from DS3 to ER) are all basically on the same level for me and if I start thinking of one of the five games more than the others it just flies up in the tierlist and I start rearranging things (yes I overthink this alot). Regarding DS2 and what you've mentioned in the video, I started it knowing people don't like it, and thus didn't like it myself at the start (lizard brain moment). In hindsight I know I would've enjoyed it more and right from the start, had I went completely blind into it. Whilst writing this I realised there might've been some nostalgia at play regarding why I cherish Bloodborne the most - it and Dark Souls III are the two games sharing the most engine-wise(?) Don't know if I'm telling the truth, haven't really done any research about the engine each game uses, but seeing as these two have had the closest release windows (366 days apart, from what I found), it wouldn't come as a surprise. They just feel very similar. This probably wasn't the biggest factor at play, but it might've enhanced my overall enjoyment. No idea what this long-ass rant is supposed to prove but it was time better spent than doing my assignments or going to sleep (it's 1am). Feel like I wrote the entire thing almost like an exam essay, my expressive skills have fallen dramatically as I had to learn to write "the proper way" for an english certificate (not a native speaker). For me: Dark Souls 1 has the best level design, because of the interconnected world Dark Souls 2 has the best story Dark Souls 3 has the best bosses and the best combat My fav is DS3 because it was the first Souls game I played. And because I like the fast, quick reaction style, combat over the slow-as-malaises combat of DS1 and DS2. I didn't know anything about the series and I bough the game day 1 just because I love the trailer and the art style. Took me like 8 months to beat, but I came away as a changed person and gamer. And I've been in love with the FromSoft games ever since.

Nice video! I am also a teenager and I think all 3 games are really good. I personally enjoy dark souls 3 the most by quite a bit, so I am interested to hear your thoughts after replaying it. Dark souls 1 is the least enjoyable out of the 3 in my opinion but I still really enjoy it. People like to focus on things they don't like about dark souls 2 and they often tend to gloss over flaws in dark souls 1 which I don't think is really fair.

its hard for me to rank the games, they all bring something completely different to the table that is better in some ways and worse in some ways then the previous game, for me my favorite is ds3, overcoming impossible odds and looking badass while doing so was ds3's bread and butter, and stepping out and seeing irrithyl gives me goosebumps no matter how many times i do it

You should do a video on BloodBorne. Besides DS1 that’s the game that has left the biggest impact on me.

DS2 is my favorite souls game as well if we're talking about unmodded versions. It has some really significant issues compared to any other iterations within the series, but IMO this is all outweighed by the uniquely positive aspects of the game, which are unmatched elsewhere.

Ds3 I think will always be my favorite because the bosses are immaculate. I hope elden ring dlc surpasses that feeling of adrenaline and excitement from beating a boss like ds3 did.

Ds2 is totally fine, and Ds1 has by far the best feel, lore, creativity, and areas of any game in the whole series. Ds3 does feel like it is missing a piece, but I still love it the most. The thing I love most about the souls games are the spectacle of the moment to moment thrilling combat, and the insane boss design/music. Ds1 and Ds3 are really close on my ranking, like if Ds3 is a 96/100, Ds1 is a 94/100.

I startet with the souls games when I was 16 because a friend wanted me to play it. Since then I never played something else 😂 I also played the games in chronological order. I have to say DS2 is the game, where I have the most hours (After ER). When I played the game, I never understood why everyone hated this game (except the hate because of the hit boxes because I played with 3 ADP). I really love it. But I actually think DS3 is the best game. It has the best bosses and it is a really good ending for the trilogy. At the moment I`m doing a SL1 run and it is fun. But these Games are all Top Tier. As a 27 year old I also think ds2 was the best out of the 3. Ds1 best at map design at start but fell off late game. Ds3 had best bosses but had boring map design. Ds2 was best at neither but was more consistent.

I got into the series when I was 14 with bloodborne. 22 now and have played all the games to death, other than ds2’s original version, only sotfs for that game. Now, I absolutely fell in love with the concepts of the games, and especially loved (and still do love) the world building and storytelling. The team that works at From do amazingly at telling extremely human stories that treat the player like an adult that is able to handle more mature themes like life and death. I especially love that the games all present death in an actually really positive way, and that you should appreciate life while you can, and welcome your end with open arms when it’s truly time. But, anyway, that’s just context I suppose. Now, I have a bit of a problem with how this video is generally presented, mainly due to the fact I really didn’t get to hear your perspective. Now, I personally think ds1 and ds2 aren’t exactly great, ds1 is a bit overrated, and ds2 is a bit too hated, and that’s why I’m a bit sad that the video didn’t genuinely present your perspective. What makes you love ds2 so much? Why do you think ds3 isn’t the strongest compared to the other two in the trilogy? I would’ve loved to see the fleshed out perspective on the “why” of your feelings towards the games. I personally love all of the games, some less, some more. But from ps3 demons souls, to elden ring, I have nothing but love for these games and this development team with massive passion. Just food for thought, try to give pretty fleshed out and passionate reasons on why you feel a specific way on these games, if you end up doing another video (which hopefully you do). These games are great, and proper conversation on the games are always amazing. But passion for something in a conversation is important, no matter if it’s a popular opinion or not.

the dark souls 3 being mid thing is something I don't agree with, but I completely understand where you're coming from with your irl situation affecting how you feel about it. I feel the same way of Elden Ring. Hot take, I know, but I don't enjoy elden ring. there's a whole lot of stuff I could get into on why I think this, but the main reason is because I wasn't in a good space mentally and it definitely affected my outlook on the game. This coupled with my irrational and unwavering love of Dark Souls 3 drove me to feel like Elden Ring was desperately trying to catch the magic of DS3 to little success. I know, loads of people like it, and more power to them, but for me, it's so special that it's boring

I don't get it when people are so anti-summoning. Summoning makes the world of Dark Souls feel so much less lonely, reminding you that no matter how tough it gets, you don't have to face it alone. While I definitely disagree about Dark Souls II being the best, I think it has the strongest story and general themes. The gameplay falls short IMO and it's way too long, but the story and the feeling of just... existing in Majula are unbeatable. My personal thoughts on Dark Souls III are conflicted. On the one hand, its world and story just don't really live up to the first two games IMO (though I do quite like the story significance of the Slave Knight Gael fight). On the other, the combat feels *amazing*. It's so satisfying to play that I feel bad ranking it below either of the others, but I also don't really feel like it belongs on top, so I have no idea how I'd personally rank it. Good video!
