Thought Ely vocals is not too good in tapes/cd before but when I heard him live a couple of years back.. wow he's the man!!! Long live batang 90's ✊✊✊

Ely loves to play and create music. Eraserheads got popular for their songs like " Ligaya, Pare ko, Magasin, Huling el bimbo..." and people expected them to release and create the same music and the same pop rock vibe over and over. Ofcourse they enjoyed the first 3 years of their band's success, the most exciting part when everything was new .But the more they taste the success the more the pressure gets higher. They felt like they continuing the band for people's satisfaction and not for their actual love for music. And they were aware about it. Those were the times when Ely felt lost. That's why he said success can kill creativeness and unconcious happiness and he doesn't want that. Ely actually loves different kinds of music , he 's a 70s kid who grew up listening to manila sound , blues and rock like Apo hiking society, Motown, Juan dela cruz ,the beatles, Elvis and to many more influential rock bands and artists at that time. Those influences helped the Eheads to create their sound so when Ely was asked which eheads songs he likes the most he answered Poorman's grave cuz that was the song he wrote without any influences from other artists but only from his own inspiration ( I think it's about his dad).So Ely and the other members got burned out and Eheads disbanded. For them it's better to end Eheads that way rather than continuing and losing their good reputation. Eraserhead members aren't that close with eachother cuz when it comes to work they know that it's complicated and prefer to just be normal friends. They've been together since 1989 and ended it in 2002 and I think for a band that's quite long. Now they still play with their new bands even if they aren't as much financially and famously successful as the eheads but they are enjoying it without feeling all that unnecessary pressure. They appreciate those who appreciate their music. Ely knows that it's a part of being publicly successful but now he views success differently. Ofcourse he's grateful for being entitled as the " Opm legend" or "Rock Icon" but he prefers to be called as a "good musician" or just by simply telling him that his new bands are awesome. Ely is a low key man who loves music , that's why he easily get so overwhelmed. And it's not like he hates his old band, he only evolves as a musician bringing with him his great experience on being the frontman of one the most influential opm bands in the 90s, the eraserheads. Btw guys, let's support our local bands and artists cuz most of them are struggling yet they are one of reasons why OPM is still alive. Let's bring back the golden and dynamic years of OPM !

im so much into eraserheads...i remember in the 90s i used to get into trouble everytime people say bad things about them or their music. I have so much respect for them, they are the first band who open the door for a lot of opm bands and they are the only band who can comeback whenever they want.

My big bro was their huge fan, coz of my brother I became a fan too coz I grew up listening to their songs. Yung Kuya ko nuon gigising ng maaga, mag benta sya ng Dyaryo para makaipon ng pera para makabili ng cassette tapes ng Eraserheads at Parokya nj Edgar. Eager sya makolekta lahat ng albums.

I've been a fan since 1993 when they released the Ultra electro magnetic pop, my sister bought the tape. I learned to play Pare Ko in guitar, I fell in love with the song and I will sing the song with my heart out on the "Diba... Tang ina!" part, a year after they released Circus and couldn't appreciate them any further. The song Wishing Wells, Sembreak (Although I don't have any idea that time what a sembreak is) Minsan, Kailan (Piano version) Sa Wakas and of course With A Smile. And I became totally crazy about this band when Cutterpillow was released. Every single track are my favorites. Yung Superproxy feat Francis M was great! (Francis M Fan boy din to) Walang tapon sabi nga nila. From that day on, I know Eraserheads will always be my top favorite local band ever. Congrats Ely kahit suplado ka sa personal, you will always have my utter respect Man. Thank you for your music that became part of my adolescent years! More power and sana lahat ng albums magkaron ng vinyl!

Poor Man's Grave is also my favorite Eheads song. This song is very underrated which i love it kasi hindi overplayed sa radyo or sa mga gigs. Most Eheads bandwagon fans do not know that song either. Alam lang nila yung mga sikat.

First time I played Poor Man's Grave, it came as an instant favorite. I only knew way back then their mainstream music played as MTVs and radio edits. You can dig deeper when you start to play their albums. Almost every artists or bands have hidden gems waiting to be discovered when you start playing their albums.

Now 2020 I rediscovered the Eraserheads (Toyang, Ligaya, Huling El Bimbo) which was the batchmate of my eldest daughter in UP Diliman. When I feel depressed and want to feel young again, I listen to these 3 songs. They are truly one of the best bands of the 90s.

My all time favourite Eheads song is "Spoliarium". Deep mysterious lyrics. Not everyone will understand the mixed up words used. Most of us believed its about the controversial issue BUT nobody will ever know the real meaning unless Ely testifies the truth himself.

90s was the best decade for me. Lalo na ng dumating ang Eraserheads. from 92 till there breakup nung 2001 or 02 sinubaybayan ko sila. Theme song ko ang mga kanta nila from College to my early years in a corporate job. Love there music. Eraserheads always had a special place in my heart.
