The Laidlaw's Crew sets out for the South Rim of the Grand Canyon on their Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The first night they make the push to Lake Havasu City then the next day into Williams, AZ and into the mouth of the southern end of the Grand Canyon. The crew is runnin' deep with nine bikes and ten riders. Two Road Glides, Road King, Low Rider ST, Super Glide, and four Pan Americas. You can't beat the scenery of one of the most visited National Parks in the US and the history on the way there is covered with old route 66 relics and mining towns. The boys (and girl) visit two of the most popular stops at the Grand Canyon Np then enjoy the night in Williams, AZ. The next day they take the 89 south through Prescott to head back home to southern California.

Very few people have travelled over 600,000 miles of long distance motorcycle riding over the years and only those who have can truly reflect and identify with exactly what Matt was talking about at sunset as they left the Grand Canyon. I’ve been all over the southwest. I love it the best because in some areas it’s extremely remote and not many people especially if you’re riding through the night. Great video Matt.

Your video and content is the absolute best! I’m 64 years young, riding on the street since I was 16. Nothing beats getting out on the open road….your description of the touring experience is RIGHT ON! I am riding to Laconia, Americade, and Sturgis this summer ❤ from North Texas….and I hope to squeeze in a trip to the West as well. Safe travels to all!

You guys rode right past my home in Prescott. I bought 3 bikes from Laidlaw's when I lived in Glendora. 80's Sportster AMF (what a jewel..lol) 2000 Dyna and late 2000 Road king. I got to meet your Grandfather, the old man himself riding an early 1900 H/D around the lot when I took delivery on the Road King. He came up and shook my hand with a thank you, nice guy.....Ride on.

Matt, one of the aspects of your videos I appreciate is that you not only show the awesome portions of your trips, but you show the warts as well. Your honesty is refreshing because anyone who has ever taken road trips knows that they are not always great. I have always liked the Street Glide more than the Road Glide, but my son and I visited our local dealer last weekend, and we are on board with the Road Glide over the Street Glide at this point.

I've watched several of your touring videos over the last couple of years. You and your crew have ridden tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) of combined miles in those videos and I can't recall anyone having a mechanical problem with the Harleys you and your crew rode. This mirrors my experience with the quality and reliability of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I've been riding since 1999 when I bought my first Harley (a 1999 FLSTF (with an Evo motor) in Seafoam Green and Birch) and have owned 6 Harley-Davidsons in total (1 Evo, 3 TC88s, 1 TC96 and a M8) and they have all been mechanically sound and extremely reliable. I currently own a 2006 Softail (TC88) and a 2022 Touring Model (M8) Harley and they are just awesome motorcycles. The Motor Company deserves credit for building bikes that look great and perform well.

Loved your words Matt I paraphrased you!…To those of you who are thinking about getting into Motorcycle Touring, it isn’t always easy, and it isn’t always comfortable. You may have to get over the intimidation of riding a heavy motorcycle. There may be times out on the road where it is really, really, hot or there may be times when it is really, really, cold. There’s going to be times when the weather just doesn’t cooperate. Maybe you hit an unexpected rainstorm, or maybe you hit other unfavorable road conditions. Sometimes there will be unfortunate mechanical issues, maybe you hit a nail and you get a flat. I guess I’m saying, sometimes motorcycle touring isnt the most easy or predictable thing in the world! But I tell you what, all the time and effort and risk is worth it!When you have a moment, when you’re riding over the High Desert and the sun is setting. Sometimes these perfect moments only happen once or twice on a motorcycle trip. Sometimes it’s only for an hour. Sometimes it’s for three or four hours. But these are the moments that you never forget about. What I have learned in motorcycling is that if you can put yourself in the right place at the right time with a little bit of luck, being on the road on two wheels has easily brought me some of the coolest memories of my life. And at these moments you are reminded why you are a motorcyclist. Why you go to the effort to endure a long road trip in the heat and in the cold and in the rain and you swing your leg over a raw engine and blaze down the open highway. I think those of us that will do things, that very few people will do will also get rewarded in a way that very few people will ever be rewarded in! I think that Motorcycle Touring is one of those things that a very low percentage of people are willing to do, and because of that a very few people will ever be able to experience.

@@MattLaidlaw It's all about the comradery anyway. I did a trip with my Ninja buddies way back. We got to the NJ theme park and realized it was going to rain for the next three days. We left the bikes there and rented a car to go lose a bunch of $$$ in Atlantic City, NJ. We had a great time though. Rained the whole way home too. I had full leather and rain gear. The others had denim and nothing else. I was comfortable enough. The others were miserably wet and cold. But, you gotta get home so we rode on. Group rides are super fun but can be fraught with drama. Makes it all the more fun.

Great video, great crew - ride safe, ride free. Will do the tour in September with my dad (LV, Death Valley, Yosemite, SF, Route 1, LA/Route 66, Williams, Grand Canyon, Page, Zion, LV). Last time we've also been at Cruisers Café sitting outside - great spot with nice live music. Cheers from Germany!
