A departure from your usual style of videos but probably the most authentic video you've put out so far. Courageous and relatable. Love this kind of stream-of-consciousness narration.

very touching to watch this video, becasue I just quit my job (comfortable zone )and switch to the new challenge, its like having conversation with you about career changing. Like eactly you said, w when you have too much options, it causes the inability to make decisions, then it can not help you move forward, Jia you! It is worth to try, wish you see the results and enjoy the process too!

Absolutely love this contemplative video! Beautifully shot and really thought-provoking. Indeed this is the time that isn't the glamorous bit that people generally share, so thank you for the honesty and for being vulnerable so openly. Just like your video, there's also beauty in the liminal spaces in our heads. Maybe the destination isn't even the most important part. It's about enjoying what's in between and how you got through. ❤

My favorite video that you guys have made so far. Beautifully shot and beautifully cut, especially around 0:04, 1:38 to 1:42, 1:56 to 2:00. I love it. Good message too. I highly recommend Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi if you haven’t seen those.

I really love this video guys. In the culture of growth and resilience, we often view and conceptualise life in a relatively linear and simplistic manner (e.g., 5 steps to do x y z). However, as you suggested in the video, life is often dynamic, non-linear and complex. That's why reflections are very important. Thank you for creating this very relatable, honest and geninue video. It is okay to be not okay. We don't need to have everything figured out. Thanks again

Thank you for articulating that situation. It's good to know this feeling of unsettling is shared by others. Sometimes, it is hard to explain to others why I am not updating on my social media because it might not be understandable as others' lives look well defined and directed. Now I know I'm not alone 💞

what a nice change up! felt real and connected. nicely done. the truth is, many of us, if we're lucky will go through many chapters and career changes. these in between moments may seem great from afar because of the freedom to choose and the financial stability to be able to afford them. Some people will be happy for you, some will be envious and sadly, some of your closest friends will be uncomfortable with this phase in your phase. These 3rd group may see your in between as a lack of "real" productivity which is really their problem and not yours. No matter, enjoy this in between time as you will become wistful about it on when you will get a chance to do it again once you're not in it. Take it from someone who's had the chance to have a few in between times.

22 and working in tech, came across your videos when I was deciding whether or accept an offer to study law. Now also in this stage, trying to figure out whether to continue on with my career, go back to school for law or go to med school. Been a struggle for the past year constantly thinking about what I actually want to pursue, can definitely relate to this. Even after writing a thesis length journal analysing my life and what my goals are in different areas, I realised that there is no escaping this process. No fancy journaling and analysis is going to save me from the decision. Mustering up the courage to make a final decision, taking responsibility for it and accepting the possibility of not succeeding. It makes me feel better to see others also go through this process as well, thanks for sharing.

Love this type of video you made! Felt very authentic and raw. As a 30 year old law student who has had a successful business career before, I can sort of relate to what you are going through. These past 3 years, I have been feeling as though I may not be smart enough to be a lawyer due to having B average grades and sometimes i question myself as to whether or not leaving a 7 year career was a mistake. But every time when these doubts kick in, I always remind myself that these liminal periods are setting me up for success that I am not meant to understand yet. Thank you so much for sharing.

I’m 28 and currently going through this phase as well 😖 I spent 10 years studying and working to be a Chartered Accountant, but I think I’m having an existential crisis. It’s really tough, knowing there’re many choices out there but fearing the consequences of making any wrong move.

I've just finished high school- grappling with choice of university, major and time management during holidays. I may not fully share your experience nor understand the hardships that go along with it, but I definetely sympathize with this sentiment . Psychological liminal spaces can be so daunting, especially since bringing them up to anyone may make you look like you're just complaining. Anyhow, I'm sure we'll overcome it

Great video. Few people have enough courage to show their vulnerability in public platform like you tube and you're one of them.. It's ok to be in liminal space, taking deep thoughts on where life will take you next. And i think it's quite difficult to be done in the hustle bustle city of hong kong, where everyone seems to be always in a rush.. 😊

This is a great video! I loooove this video and the format. "There were structures determined by external factors" I'm also in the liminal space. Currently trying to figure out my own structures determined by my _internal_ factors. Some people call it purpose, some call it "their calling", but I call it my north star. The process to finding your north star is hard to share, because there's so much discovery going on. Discovery is a vulnerable process, but also very fulfilling. Thanks for sharing your process. I hope to see more!

What a wonderful heartfelt video. I really enjoyed this heart-to-heart and honesty. I think maybe because I'm in the same place of sorts, this in-between where I don't really know what I'm doing or where I'm going next. I'm just... existing. I know we'll figure it out, I just wish there was less confusion and uncertainty about it haha Thank you for the video, would love to see more like this!! Love from Canada.

As i wrote in some previous video, i'm moving back in hong kong after 10 years FINALLY. My mistake has been to decide to live here and only care about my gf happiness and not also mine. So in the meanwhile we bought house together and we renovated it. I wasted my years far away from hong kong without feeling happy. I've felt dazed, empty, out of place, depressed like a fish out of water. I have come to the conclusion that if she will follow me will be fine otherwise i need to think first about myself and i'll decide to end up the relationship. I don't wanna live anymore like in "the space in between".

This was such a carefully crafted video, didn't even realise that there was a term such as liminal space which I can relate to right now (you really do learn something new everyday). This definitely gave me a bit more reassurance that I don't feel alone in my constant uncertain thoughts and feelings about recently transitioning from in-house to a commercial role and whether it's the right move for me. Also was that an intentional pun on an "eggs-istential crisis" @1:17 or maybe it's just my inner lawyer doing weird attention to detail things again?

I dont know why but I kind of or may be too much relate to this too, I have been working since age of 18 and now I am 31, working in same place almost half of my life, I want to move to difference phase of life but kind of trap for now but sooner or later can get out of it... but then whats next? For me want to retire at 40-45 or even earlier if financially strong, I want to just live a very simple life with less noise, less rush, minimilistic life style, do things that I enjoy like cooking, traveling, playing badminton, table tennis, watch movies with relaxed mind... simply live and mindfully, explore innerself more, you can say kind of a spritual path.
@EmandLloyd

Right there with you on living mindfully and exploring one’s inner self - I think it’s already quite a big step to be able to identify the life you want to live! The challenge though, of course, is getting from here to there…

Can you guys do a video on comparing yourselves to others your age? I am the same age as you guys and find that the older we get the more differences i see with our peers that we graduated with (financial situation, owing a house, career advancement, moving to a new country, single vs married vs with children). Do you guys worry about falling "behind" with this career break?
