After Grandee was ousted for good Ridgy and her family were picked on badly, Gigi was very little still a baby really less than a year old, the bullying was brutal towards Ridgy we don't know exactly what troop members was beating her she looked horrible eventually losing both her ears, huge bald spots where her fur was pulled, multiple wounds this went on for quite a while she became distant, depressed things got a little better for her around time Grady was born she perked up some looked better. Then it started again she became more withdrawn to a point that it was 3 months since Mr.Am had seen her she was alone and looked bad that is picture of last time Mr.AM seen her on video front showing for video title page . He had hope since it was 3 months since she reappeared but he never saw her again. Her family fell hard down the hiarchy rank I don't know if they became the lowest rank in troop but if not lowest close to it. Thankfully her children banned together to support each other especially little Gigi. At the end of video he named all her surving children and stuff including vivy. But on comments I see other people saying we have not seen vivy for while now mr.am messaged in comments that he will be doing video about Vivy just to give him little time. So I think something must have also happened to vivy after her mother had passed away. Conclusion is Ridgy has passed away there has been no sightings of her in about a years time. I find it unlikely that she joined another troop because she would have been spotted by now he thinks her age was around 17 years old because she had already had several grown children when he first saw her when he started filming the monkeys. It was a hard video to watch to know that her own troop had beaten and bullied her in the manner they did and went on for so long her children were treated indifferently too. I cried seeing what they done to her. After Grandee had to leave her and her children's world literally was like a switch was flipped in how they were treated. I think she had such close relationship with Grandee and some troop members didn't like that or maybe it pushed her rank up higher because of her closeness with Grandee so once he was gone they made a show of her openly and with prejudice . I don't think I have ever seen a troop do something like that for that long to that extent to another member

@@tonya8652 Thanks for the explanation. That is horrible. I wonder if they wanted to drive her out of the troop but she wouldn't leave her family and that is why they kept attacking her.

I'm confused I understand she was number one then Grandee was gone. But there were so many of Grandees offspring why wasn't being left at the bottom enough?. Also since her family group was so large was it possible for them to go off live on the outskirts of any troop or perhaps join a different troop? What surprised me she wasn't a small.momkey she had some big daughters couldn't they have fought off some of the attacks? It's horrible she was singled out but Karma got Bossys family this year with the loss of so many infants

​@Kmerch46 she was only at top because no one would challenge Grandee. Grandee had many children of high and low born. Look at Taggy and LUBBY, once Taggy was gone, LUBBY couldn't enter into Bossy's troop and stayed with maternal troop only. Some of these monkeys do have true love with partners. Ridgy was on fact a low born

Thank you for the beautiful tribute to Ridgy no matter how hard to watch. So many of us needed to know what happened to her. Life in the wild is often cruel and incomprehensible to we viewers. Watching Ridgy decline was heartbreaking to see for so many of us who loved to watch her and her family through the years. We hope you are finally at peace beautiful Ridgy. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

They’re wild animals. What else do you expect?

Monkeys are opportunistic and do what they have to do to survive at all costs. They’re not cruel because cruel isn’t in their limited behavioral skill set. Nor is nice, kind, mean, greedy etc. They are wild animals and have lived this way for longer than us humans have been around.

They’re monkeys. They don’t have a moral compass or control over their emotions, if they have any at all. They’re wild animals that arroz has put into a storybook form. They’re still wild animals and life is hard for them, by our perspective.

Too distressing for me to watch but can you summarise what happened? I was shocked by the gang attack on the male monkey that AM filmed a while back. It wasn't enough for them to give him a beating and let him run off. They attacked him in to unconsciousness and kept attacking. He ran off which is where it ended but I guess they finished him off. They can be very brutal. In Ridgy's case, wasn't the first attack and demoting her to low ranking enough?? To think that she was repeatedly attacked is awful. I'm just glad the babies weren't hurt..or maybe Vivy died defending Grady and Gigi...in which case does that mean they are still at risk.

@@vg7735 essentially they wore her down until she was just an empty vessel. She disappeared early last year presumed dead, I think she died of a broken heart

@@vg7735 they constantly attacked her on and of, ostracised her children also. AM said he didn't know who it was but i would hedge my bets on bossys family and allies

Emotional complexity? Macaques are very basic and opportunistic. Whatever gets them fed. They’re wild animals, not cute characters as arroz portrays them. It’s fun and cute until it isn’t.

It's all politics and it's just their way. Much like humans they are opportunistic. I suspect she was attacked by some mid-ranking monkeys as a way to rise in rank.

yep Ridgy had never done it even with the mothers. she had never pulled rank either. she was so loving to all babies. i am trying not to give in to this rising anger towards the troupe but those hellish years that Ridgy was tormented ugh. maybe it is somewhat a blessing now that she can finally find some peace. but it shouldnt have been this way. smh

Taggy is deceased. But I wonder about Granny and Aunty, no word yet, but they have not been spotted 😢

That attack could have been one of few only. We saw I'm this video how Haggy actually came close to Ridgy without malice in her heart. Is scary sometimes to see how rhesus macaque and human behaviour are the same. 🤓🇸🇪

@@ML_SE Yes, AM didn’t capture all the attacks in Ridgy, but he did say it was Haggy & her daughters that attacked her at least once. And then they were helping her afterwards. He said that maybe they were jealous of her strong connection w/Grandee. But it could not be said that AM didn’t who attacked her (even if it was once) or say he knew all who attacked her. It’s certainly interesting behavior. And a true sad outcome for Ridgy. And now Vivy. I missed the part when he says Vivy is gone (dead?) too.

@@ceciliaSF-TX I didn't hear him say that Vivy's gone but he said that the three kids Ridgy have with Grandee is all close to each other (Didy, Fify and Gigy) and then he said They have to. My heart hurts. 🤓🇸🇪

Vivy is unconfirmed. Ridgy was attacked but they would stop from time to time. I suspect some midranking monkeys attacked her to try and raise their own status. All the older siblings basically banded together to take care of Gigy simce Ridgy became lethargic. Her physical wounds healed, it's more likely she died of old age that accelerated due to her treatment. She lived long enough to play with Grady and to see Grandee one last time, who snuck back into the troop only to interact with her and their kids.

It's unfortunately unlikely. Females don't leave the troop unless under extremely rare circumstances such as Lubby, and that's only because she knew Taggy would protect her in her new troop (they are potentially siblings). Ridgy doing so would put her kids at even greater risk and it would not help her rank in the new troop at all. I suspect Ridgy was older than we might think.

I think that is risky. We see how the bigger troops dominate the smaller ones. They have to be careful not to stumble on territory of other troops.

Monkeys can't really survive outside of the group as a whole.

I think since we haven't seen her around a long time, it likely means she is dead.
