Before this video starts, all I hope is you start with the old Monday Night Football song. Or “we ready”. Sadly you didn’t start with that music. It would have been sick. Like John Madden era entry music. Also the issue with football is none of the new rookies are in 5k national treasures markets. And with football, the average player has an average lifespan of 3.5 years. And boxes can have O-Linemen, the most important in the game, but not what you want to open. Also as a former soccer player, you don’t want to open a kicker, but more than 50% of games come down to FG’s. GO KICKERS!!!!!!

You're right that QB's dominate football, but modern and vintage really should not be compared because modern cards are just gambling and vintage is actually collecting/investing. Modern sees players get injured and their cards drop 80%, but vintage moves up or down each year 5 or 10% and occasionally 20%. Their prices are mostly set. Plenty of football collectors love the Bradshaw, Unitas, Namath, Tarkenton and Staubach rookies and those players rookies that are PSA 9's or 10's are usually $20k+ sales. And they'll hold their value; while 95% of modern players will never hold their value

@@Canuck.Collector I have no problem with anything anyone does; that's their business. But I was just pointing out that it's a bad comparison to compare modern qb's with vintage qb's and to say there is little interest in vintage football due to the huge price discrepancy of vintage hall of fame qb's and modern qb's. Modern is mostly just gambling and vintage is mostly collecting/investing. I'll try to explain better. To say vintage football isn't hot because modern qb's can get $80k and the best vintage gets is "only" $20k doesn't mean much. Because people paying $80k for a modern card are often hoping the player has a great September and they can flip it for $90k. But vintage cards are retired so you can't buy and have them have a great week, month or year and flip for 20 to 100% more. So someone paying $20k for a Bradsahw PSA 9 rookie is either a huge collector of Bradshaw and has no intention of selling for a real long time or they are investing and hoping it's worth $30k in 5 or 10 years. There's an aspect of gambling with vintage, but nothing like the gambling of modern cards we have seen since 2020, so they are like 2 completely entities.

@@Canuck.Collector We agree that many people love gambling; so we are in agreement. But the loudest noisemakers in the industry like Geoff Wilson don't speak for all of us, which is why I disagreed with Sports Card Radio that vintage football is dead as I think he implied. Maybe he didn't imply that, but I was simply explaining why modern cards of qb's today; are worth more than hall of fame qb's from the 1960's and 1970's. You know all of this, but maybe others don't. 90% of these modern qb's who are worth more than Namath, Bradshaw, Staubach and Unitas today; will not be worth 1/10th as much as those Hall of Fame qb's in 5 years or less. Sure some of them will; maybe Mahommes and a few others, but most will never make the Hall and will be commons by 2028. It's only because people love to gamble that they are worth more today, but it doesn't mean there is a lack of interest in vintage football cards. Take care

Yes. On card autos too. I was fortunate to see 83 and i4 topps packs still in stores in the early 90s. My dad would by me several packs on weekends. The Montanas, Marino RC, Elway RC, Dickerson RC and so on. I haven't had to put much into the 99 or early 2000s autos.

"Kenny" (Ken Goldin) was such a crook and snake oil salesman. He ran scoreboard into the ground in late 1996. He also ran Classic into the ground . He was selling Babe Ruth autographs with the claim of "This item was signed under the supervision of The Score Board, Inc.

The only modern QB I would touch is Mahomes. I still say you can’t go wrong with Montana, Marino, and Elway. Those 3 will always be linked from the 80’s/90’s era and their rookie cards hold up better than Favre, Brees and even Manning

Love the site but I disagree about football cards being a bad long term investment. The ATG players all still have solid value in their rookie cards and autos. Sell the newer marginal guys when hot to invest in the greats.

I don't really buy much panini products, if there not honoring redemptions I don't want to do business with them, although I have had some of my bigger hits from there products. I have moved away from buying football, I mainly buy all topps products that have that $80 - $150 range. That away I will never be that disappointed in a box. I can't see spending $600 to get skunked. Stadium Club chrome and topps chrome are my favorites and I pickup heritage and bowman once and while. I have done well collecting like this. I like base rookies and autos.

I don’t have nothing to crazy on my redemptions but I’ve had them there for 3-4yrs waiting . After about 1.5yrs like a week ago they reply to my email with this : Hi Mario , Due to the pandemic, we are experiencing a backlog in fulfilling requests. P.S - if someone is just looking to flip, Russ could be an option.. he’s had 1 bad year *ever* … has a good coach… a rebound is more likely than not, IMO. His stuff is super cheap atm. Also, anyone who still thinks J. Fields still has something … those people can’t be helped.

If the CEO of Panini is that shady and Panini ownership is that shady, it seems to follow that there is a lot of shady goings-ons at Panini. Everyone show be looking to find lawsuits and bleed that Panini family dry as they lose their golden goose and have no more money coming in to defend themselves from lawsuits.

Lets see how many "Panini haters" buy NT football for $2200+😂😂. Shit will sell out in minutes. There are some breakers buying bulk from Panini if they cant get allocation but still. Stop buying boxes of Panini product if you really hate them.

Sadly relevancy is all that matters! That’s why vintage seems like such a steal. There’s a lot of young kids trying to flip and make a buck and they only care about who is actually playing which is understandable. That’s why vintage will always be a steal. I can buy PSA 8s that have low POP counts of hall of fame players from the 50s for under a grand…seems criminal. As a Chicago native I grab high grade Ernie Banks cards because he will always be a legend here.

Also.. For whatever reason… Montana stuff just doesn’t seem to go up in value… I remember around 2015 you could get a Montana auto for between $65-$175… & last I checked his autos (basic ones) are still below $200… I am thinking he probably signed a TON of stuff is why. Not sure about just cards themselves value wise. Always found that to be super weird… I actually had a Montana card that was signed & PSA slabbed/certified… & I had it on eBay & it sat forever at $120… I ended up finally taking an offer for around $70. 🤷‍♀️ was around 2021ish … have a feeling he just signed a million things. There’s a few players like that… such as, Yogi Bera. Ken Griffey Jr. Stuff in the late 90s & early-mid 2000s was that way, thankfully once it came out that he didn’t cheat… his stuff gained value again.

I'm invested in any Red Wings or I Indianapolis Colts players, usual. No, I'm not chasing anything because it ruins the hobby for myself. I have a JOB and shit to do. Lol I enjoy ripping packs of anything but do I expect money back?? NOPE. I'm not tooting my own horn but I've got cards I could easily send off to PSA, throw it on EBay and buy a car after.
