When y'all get tired of breakcore in a few months, check out these genres: *Garage (best around late 90s early 2000s) *Dubstep (best around early 2000s) *Ragga Jungle (good any year, it's basically the ragga version of breakcore) *Gabber/Hardcore (good around 90 and early 2000s, later stuff still isn't bad) *Chicago House (best in the 90s, but still good any other year) *Detroit Techno (good any year) Go to music.ishkur.com/ to hear examples. You can click the menu in the top right corner to search. This website has the entire history of electronic music as an interactive tree graph. Click on the colored segments to hear music from a specific year. You could spend hours on it(I have). I might add more genres to this comment list if I think of any more good ones.

Its the difference between if the music can actually pull you along or not. This genre has a tendency to pull away from the concept of maintaining pitch, melody, or rhythm... which without one of the three remaining constant or mostly consistent... tends to make the music fall apart. One of these things needs to be the tether, the rest can be the rocks you climb.

I dig it. by injecting so much into the bars, extending or slowing the tempo does the work for the binding auditory flow of the music. it is the breakbeat equivilant of how rock guitarists began shredding so fast and created tunes that were akin to classical baroque style music of the distant past. the individual beats can simulate the instrumentation that might have been used if the creator had chosen another medium and format to create from. very good form of music and art.

that venetian snare set was very interesting to me when i saw it because it shows that djing/mixing can be a creative process as opposed to appealing to masses with perfect transitions and all that. finding tunes that work together in unique ways and unique transitions and really just playing what YOU like. a lot more fun and your personality is in it, like in a tune you make. i would prefer that for a live set any time.

@karcinoma2 жыл бұрын
This is Funny to me because you would have been shocked about how perfect 100% of his transitions were when I saw him live in a vacant office space years ago. He had burnt CDs of tracks at the same BPM, So all he had to do was cue them up and they'd stay in sync all night and they did. He never touched the pitch fader on either deck, and would slap the cross fader back and forth like a cat chasing a string. And it was totally fine all night because both tracks were always in perfect sync so the live mixing was thoroughly enjoyable and unique as you explain. His music and his performing it live, is absolutely fantastic from start to finish, but rest assured that time I saw him at least, the entire performance was CEMENTED in perfect transitions. just a funny tale I remembered!!!

It's Abomination Streets mixed with Good Jungle. You can hear this performance in a youtube video called Venetian Snares live at Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, 2005 (Remastered Audio) at the 21:23 mark

The first stage (lvl 1) is how I’m doing Breakcore. It’s like liquid dnb. Stage 2/3 is what I wish my breaks sound like. It’s hard to chop breaks and figure out what would work. But it sounds cool though. Venetian snares is my favorite in this genre.

Holy shit that Venetian Snares ending track was absolutely fucking good. As someone who started with Venetian Snares randomly from a Acai clone hero map of Nepetalactone, that was and still is seriously intense, his album songs about my cats is still one I'm leading myself up to, but I'm definitely going to be getting Greg Hates Car Culture soon. Goreshit is definitely the artist who helped bring myself into appreciating this music, along with noise wall, and Nero's Day at Disneyland, and random others.
