The Statler Brothers are what intrigued my brothers and I to start singing as a trio. We did pickup a 4th to make a Quartet. Some of the Oak Ridge Boys as well. Always ended with Gospel. Won a few contests. I think about those days a lot. We eventually went out own ways. Always hope that some day we can get together again and do it again.

Although I was around in 1966 when this song came out, I heard the complete version of the song for the first time in 1979 while at the airport. I heard a version of this song in 1971. It was in a gum commercial. It went, "The other guys give you 7 sticks while Beech Nut gives you 8. 8 sticks for the price of 7. Ain't that great!" The Statler Brothers sang the Beech Nut commercial, too.
