The kracatoa is a volcano responsible for a famous eruption in 1883. The ship was named kracatoa and exploded. The reference to tugs was also incredible. Genius writing there Victor.

Our thoughts and prays go to the people that died, Benson was a power-hungry lunatic but he didn't deserved to die and we all hope that Thomas survive the explosion. Excellent episode Victor. With 1 episode left, I hope we finally found out who is behind all of this evil, death and destruction.

The most anticipated episode of Stories of Sodor. I remember this episode being hinted back in season 1 but at the time I think a Thomas styled episode of this particular Tugs episode wasn't going to be one of the episodes. However considering Munitions is probably the most popular episode of Tugs it was bound to be a idea suggested from everyone. Heck even the opening titles confirm that. Anyways onto the episode itself: Admittingly I had a feeling there was going to be some 'copied word for word' bits which technically there was but it still had some of it's own bits in there, like the bit with Donald and Henry talking with Terence about Henry's accident and the weapon used on Mr Zorro. Speaking of which, I remember getting replies to my comment on the previous episode regarding Rob's history with Mr Zorro. Some said that it was actually Rob's brother who shot Zorro and after watching this, I think they might be right. Because at one point, Rob says his father had a weapon that had the exact description of the weapon used. With that in mind, Rob is most likely not the culprit, but his brother. I did have a feeling Benson was gonna get killed off next and goodness me that cliff-hanger. Whether or not that engine is Thomas or a faceless E2 is something that will be revealed in the final episode. But I also hope 'Fallout' will reveal the culprit, I'd hate for this season to end on a cliff-hanger or for the culprit to get away scot free. There's just something unsatisfying about those possibilities.

I’m sure everyone else here has noticed the different tone and vocabulary in the dialogue of this episode since it’s one big Tugs reference

So I was watching this with my little brother and cousin and at <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="252">4:12</a> when diesel said: BLOW EM UP! We looked at each other for 2 seconds before then brusting into laughter, and i swear when diesel said that it was the best thing. Sentence in the series!

Full disclosure: I did watch the leaked episode, but only because after last week's surprise, I didn't want to go in blind. And I'm glad I did so this one time, as this is a lot to take in. First off, after last episode, I was second guessing my theory on Robert Hall being responsible for everything that had happened. But after the mention of the gun going missing, I think he's shocked about this, not feigning innocence here. I then remembered that Robert's brother was more of a violent one, so it's likely that the brother is responsible for things. As for Thomas, I have a theory about how he could be alive after that explosion. I think when Thomas had to stop because of the brake blocks melting together, the fuel would've been sloshing around inside the tanker, so there's a chance the fuel was mostly at the back of it when it exploded. Given that, there's a possibility that Thomas looks dead, but is barely alive. Either way, I feel like he'll have to undergo the diesel conversion to survive, and will be moved to being the works as a shunter while also getting therapy after what happened. It would allow him to still be alive while also not being on the branch line. The memorial could be for Benson and honoring his service. Regardless of whether Thomas is alive or not, Percy is definitely gonna need therapy after losing his best friend

I kinda find it funny that everyone was worried about Thomas, while no one was talking about Benson dying a few minutes earlier

Eric and Diesel acting as a duo was not something I was originally expecting but it is a joy to watch.

A few things: It’s interesting how Terrence gets around. He’s always known to know supposed legends and now even deep in police investigations when he clearly shouldn’t. The Tugs reference to that episode integrated well in my opinion. Once again death strikes agains this season. Benson was a douchebag, but you kind of feel like he didn’t deserve to blow up with his arrogance getting the better of him. 2 theories as to how Thomas’ death goes. Either it’s a red herring and that flaming husk and skeletons don’t belong to him and his crew, or Rob can someone be able to find a faceless E2 (considering if they were scarce at the time) and Thomas can be brought back whether with old memories or not. But this could very well be our first Nor-Easter death. I have a theory that Thomas could be resurrected through some Shed 17 nonsense, can’t say i’d be a fan though. Thomas’ death doesn’t emotionally hit me to be honest. Thomas has been absent for the past few episodes and hasn’t done anything notable, there hasn’t been any obvious death flags and he hasn’t even done much once he finally returned in this episode. That goes for Benson too, both their long absences make their deaths kind of lacklustre, and it only hurts by knowing their name. Henry’s accident this season at least emotionally hit me, because Geoffrey paid the price, and we know that Rob’s been after Henry this whole season and Henry’s been around since. Overall, still a decent episode that I think has an appropriate pacing and is fine even if under 15 minutes. Edit: After relaxing from the hype, I think the climax is just way too sudden, especially as everything before lacked visual setup. Look at Season 2’s episode Smuggling. That had decent intensity pacing with the climax building up appropriately.

2 comments: In a previous episode from the War mini series, Collin's death is a subversion of Tugs. That said, if we're subverting it again, then the canon characters' living streak may be over. Also, prior to Revenge, all clues pointed to Robert, but while the cold open and the end tag of revenge threw a wrench pointing instead to his brother, it's quite possible that both brothers are responsible for the recent streak of deadly violence, with Robert potentially manipulating his brother by feeding him the information he has, and intentionally setting him up to go on a killing spree.

I was originally baffled to see that Munitions was gonna be less than 14 minutes (including opening and ending credits) but after seeing this, it makes perfect sense why. This has got to be the most suspenseful episodes ever even including SoW.

I don't think it's Robert, I think it's his twin brother Shawn. If Robert was the killer, then why would he mention that his father used to have the same kind of gun that used to killed Mr.Zorro? Plus, in the flashback of the Revenge story, we find out that Shawn was a bit of a troublemaker growing up.

“Story idea by everyone” I’m sorry but that gave me a good chuckle

Someone needs to do something about the official who decided naming a munitions ship after the second worst volcanic eruption of all time was a good idea. Kinda like naming a dirigible the Hindenburg or a battleship Bismarck. Sidenote; although the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora technically killed more, the majority of those were due to the resulting Year Without A Summer. Krakatoa I believe has the most deaths caused directly by an eruption. Another fun fact; in both the Tugs episode and by extension this, the sinking of the Kraka-Toa is a weird homage to the infamous sinking of the Normandie. To anyone unaware, it was a French passenger ship operated by France's national cruise line that caught fire in New York Harbour under mysterious circumstances where the Manhattan Cruise Terminal now lies It burnt out of control, capsized due to the damage fire hoses, was salvaged, deemed unusable, sat around for another four years and was then scrapped in the Port Newark shipyard, Very different causes but, especially in the original version, they sink virtually identically.

Looks like Thomas will have to go the Darth Vader treatment; if not, he'll have to undergo the General Grievous kind, which is more extensive. Meanwhile, I really love how you used "Munitions" for your show.

A lot of people say that “the main character died”. Well, I’m very sad that Thomas went through this. Though, I kinda feel like Edward is the main character in this series. I mean he narrates the stories, appears in almost every episode and is the engine that we’ve followed since the prologue.

If he actually did kill off Thomas Than victor has some massive balls of iron I guess we’ll have to see in Fallout

We lost Geoffrey, nearly lost Henry, Peter dies while suffering from metal fatigue, Mr. Zorro gets murdered, and now Thomas and his crew. Amazing job as always, Victor. But now we’re dreading about Thomas as while Henry was near death, he did have a chance, despite it being at the last minute. Here…I’m not sure what could be done.

NOTE: My thoughts here will contain some spoilers so if you haven't watched the whole episode or seen the full leak from another imposter Victor Tanzig account, please make sure that you do before commenting. Time for the penultimate episode of the season before we say goodbye to those that have fallen. To be completely blunt and honest, this adaptation of Munitions is just incredibly rushed. Like too rushed and too fast. For an episode that everyone has been expecting for a long time, to see it led to this... is honestly disappointing because I was really scared yet excited for this episode. So in the first half, we see Henry returning and him working with Donald with the scrap, which also leads to Robert's surprise when Terence mentions about the World War 1 gun that went missing and that Robert mentioned his father had it. Very interesting. I'm still suspecting that he might be somewhat involved but I guess maybe the missing gun was stolen by his brother or it could be that Robert is lying. I'm not fully sure. Hopefully we will get some answers in the final episode since... I suspected that we weren't going to see what happened with Donald until Fallout. The second half with Benson acting like Bluenose, bang on and everyone just not liking him was expected but fine. The bomb ticking, more proof that this whole Munitions attack was planned, especially that Robert definitely had to cause that. Benson got blown up, not surprised that was expected. But what is surprising is the cliffhanger at the end that sees... Thomas blown up and... we see his burnt out body along with his crew. That is a lot different compared to Ten Cents presumed death in the actual show. Here, we do see his body and... that explains why Annie and Clarabel are at the end of the 1965 trailer. Poor Thomas… Though if it does turn out that Thomas did survive this, I'm going to be surprised because it honestly feels like he shouldn't have. Just my opinion. Surprised that Mickey didn't die, though. I thought we would see him sacrifice himself. Very interested to see what's going to happen next week in Fallout that will hopefully answer everything, including seeing what actually happened with Donald since he was shown damaged in the trailer, but for this episode, I wished it was longer and wasn't rushed. I also wished there was a bit more emotional drama to this as it would've really made the episode feel more grim, which would help towards Fallout in my personal opinion. It's not bad of an episode, it should've been longer and slower.

Ok. This episode was pretty dark and heartbreaking moments. First, Jeffrey was officially killed, then Henry was almost being died instantly except witn his crews, and Peter was killed by a shot man and Mr Zorro was also killed by Robert Hall and now Benson and....Thomas....and my favorite number one blue train who fell in love....I hope the last episode will come to end for darkest, grimly, and tragic for Season 5 which is fallout. I hope Robert Hall is only one who secretly killed for some engines and people. I know it was pretty sufficient to see.
