Of course, things would run smoothly on Sodor: They've got Sir Topham Hatt. Since he resigned as Director of the Railway Board, I pity whoever his successor is. So you've given Sheffield (16) a different name in this series, huh? Not bad. However, I think you might've heard of the name Glenn Close... XD "They really should make a better type of engine." Uh oh. I sense hints of dieselization coming up... "Freight can't mouth off to you." No, but freight _cars_ can. That is, the non-faceless ones. ;) Well, this strike _is_ a bit more organized than the last ones we've seen on this show. I'm glad to see that Duck is one of the few engines on the Mainland with common sense during this time. And it's equally satisfying to have Stepney turn up. "A story for a _very_ distant day..." Nice one, Edward.

Victor Tanzig your work is a masterpiece I like all of it except for the ghosts . May good triumph over evil in your future stories . We need to see how good life can be AND an island west of Sodor that’s big can be a place where most engines were rescued from scrap in 50’s and 60’s like the place where Remembrance came from and there are very few diesels An island like Sodar would be almost as big as UK and could have 2500 or more engines and that they would have bought most of the engines built after 1950 and the neighboring island took in 10,000 engines so there’d still be Jubilees Black 5’s Castles and LMS Crabs and a bunch of others I’ll mention the kinds as I think of them , How about a new shed at Tidmouth love the big ones LMS had which had indoor turntables and engines were like people around a round table

Another Brilliant piece of work Victor. Interesting story and nice to see some characters reappearing aswell as cameos. On another note, you prompt people to offer ideas and I perhaps have one for Adam, seeing as he is likely to live but not appear on Sodor again. Under an episode titled 'Preservation', it would detail the events of preservation, mentioning the Talylln, Ffesttiniog, Puffing Billy Railway, etc. The story would revolve about how Adam was being sold but, in a story prior, had made friends with Stepney. In doing so, Adam (Whose actual No. wasn't 3 but rather 488) was bought by the Bluebell Railway as a gesture from Sodor, put into LSWR guise but disguised for years about his WW2 actions. I say this because, in Awdrey's work, he does refer to the Bluebell's Radial Tank not as No. 488 but rather as Adam.

William and Stepney roughhousing, whoa how absurd, oh and the diesels are coming, sounds like dieselisation is coming.

Terrific epiepisode mate love the history aspect and how nwr stands for northwestern region not railway makes sense this show seems to coincide with reality and Britains history more then the railway series interesting isn't it lol a very distant day that's a good one awesome as always

Personally I don't see a problem with the new express coaches that Sodor received. That's actually my favourite coach design, the special coaches from series 5 of Thomas the tank engine.

now that i think of it, i wonder how will TSoS will continue during the 1955 modernisation plan when all steam engines are being replaced by diesel engines until in 1968, when all steam engines were withdrawn in britain. also, will The Beatles tour in sodor if the victorverse is an alternate universe?. If so, will the engines of sodor (steamies if they are still operating and/or diesels) greet them and probably take the special trains to take them to the stage? and will there be an engine who causes a lot of trouble because of a dose of hearing The Beatles' songs? and it also shouldn't be The Beatles, The Rolling stones and/or The Kinks could also do it.

One point to raise about a nationalized system like BR is that when something like this is nationalized, it needs to be recognized that it's moving from a corporation to a service. Corporations make money, but services cost money. It'd be absurd to demand that fire departments be profitable; with a nationalized rail network, the mentality should be much the same. Obviously minimizing losses is good for the long-term stability of the program, and efficiency of operations is paramount, but a lot of the truly controversial decisions (cutting branch lines to rural areas, recklessly cutting staff) I think were misguided from the start, just because a key motivation seemed to be turning the railways into a revenue engine rather than a transportation service.
