JazakALLAH Sheikh. May Allah Reward you immensely. Aameen. Please do remember to explain the Qadr aspect which you briefly mentioned when all the souls were extracted from Adam (AlaihiSalam) and then you said it would be expanded upon in the next episode but we are in the topic of clothing in this episode and missed the one about Qadr. But I also want to add that so much benefits I obtained from the explanation of this verse about clothing.

Summary(Important Notes) of The Stories of The Prophets- 28. The Story of Adam (Pt 16): Lessons of Haya (Modesty) Part - 2. This is Part-2 of the summary. Part 1 is commented in a different comment as the summary is too long to be commented on in one comment. The other comment is also in this comment box. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... Whenever they commit a shameful deed, they say, “We found our forefathers doing it and Allah has commanded us to do it.” Say, “No! Allah never commands what is shameful. How can you attribute to Allah what you do not know?” (Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 28) The “shameful deed” mentioned in this Ayah refers to a very evil practice that the Arabs did during the Pre-Islam era. This wasn’t the norm, some of the Arabs did this. As an act of piety, they used to completely uncover themselves and do Tawaf around the Ka’aba completely naked. Shaitan gave them a bizzare excuse - “This is our natural state, why should we hide between us and God?” This is an invalid argument. Covering one’s self is not “hiding”, it is modesty. To further prove this, a Sahabi Bahz bin Hakim asked that if he is all alone, can he be naked? and the Prophet(SAW) replied “It is more befitting that you have Haya of Allah when you have Haya of other people.” In other words, be modest even when you are in private. To justify their evil practice, the Arabs gave two justifications - 1. They found their forefathers doing it. 2. Allah commanded them. Allah remained silent about the first because they did find a few generations doing this but He resoundingly refuted the 2nd claim in the same Ayah - Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 28. Reality of Today’s World with Regards to Modesty: Never in human history has nudity and promiscousity has been more encouraged than in today’s time and world. Researches about this are well-known and documented and the problems and dangers of seeing images that are not befitting of human dignity and are clearly a tactic of Shaitan. The most obvious consequence is addiction - the brains go numb. This type of material damages the psyche of humans. This disease has broken so many marriages and relationships in general. The productivity of people has decreased, the motivational drive and force for a man to get his act together and to want to have a family is all eroded by this immorality. There is no reason to marry anymore. It is truly dangerous to society. And all this is exactly what Shaitan wants for us. Men and women, in particular, should see the trap and not fall into it. It is strongly recommended not to fall into the trap of empowerment and liberty, exposing yourself is not empowering, it is demeaning. Trickery, minimising and justifying sins is the essence of Shaitan’s trap. This kind of things destroy the very fabric of reality. Whatever sins happen behind closed doors, no doubt bad, at least they don’t affect the society. This has happened since the beginning of times, it happened at the time of Prophet(SAW) too in Madinah. When sins become public and normalised, that’s when the real danger comes and it brings about a big calamity. This issue of covering one’s ‘Awrah as oppose to displaying one’s ‘Awrah is linked directly to the story of Adam(AS). It is as if Allah is saying “Just like this issue was the cause of Adam(AS)’s and Hawa’s expulsion from Jannah, opening the door to this is the expulsion of humanity.” This is the beginning and the end. If we compare the contents of media in the 29th century to what we see today, it is sad to say that there is a drastic difference. What do we know about children of Adam(AS) and, in particular, the marriage of the children? We have no explicit statements regarding this in the Qur’an and Sunnah. We have multiple reports from the Sahaba and from the early scholars of Islam but it is not the Qur’an and Sunnah. So it is just a legendary thing, but there is nothing wrong in stating it. In all likelihood, this is probably exactly what happened. It is said that everytime Hawa would give birth, she would give birth to twins and it would always be a boy and a girl. And these two would be Haram for each other, they would be siblings for each other. When the next pair of twins come, the boy of this twin pair would not be Haram for the girl of the previous twin pair and vice versa. Similarly, the boy of the previous pair would not be Haram for the girl of this new pair. At-Tabari says “Never would a boy be born to Adam(AS) except that a girl would be born with him. And so the boy of one pair would be married to the girl of the other pair and girl of one pair would be married to the boy of the other pair.” Ibn ‘Allaan, scholar of Qur’an and Hadith who died in 11th Hijrah, said “In the Shari’ah of Adam(AS), it is as if different pairs of children from the womb of Hawa took the status of distant relatives (cousin/second cousin). So it is as if the siblings were the ones in the same womb at the same time. So the ones who are born in a different timeframe, they become like a relative and not siblings.” The bottomline is that we don’t know for certain. We firmly beleive that the Shari’ah (Laws) can change for Prophet to Prophet. Torah of Musa(AS) had tougher laws which were removed when the Injeel of Isa(AS). Similarly, some things could have been permitted in previous Shari’ah but Haram on us. Exceptions don’t make the general rules, they have their different exceptional rules. This opinion given above makes sense and we have the statements of Sahaba. But Allah knows best. This ends the entire summary. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair

1)But isn't it the case that nakedness between husband and wife is supposed to be exposed, since they were the only human beings anyway and married? 2) So prophets do commit sin? 3) Since the goal of the shaytaan is to bring humans into shame, would it apply also to this day were people are are not feeling shame? Shaytaan cannot bring us into shame anymore, does he care now? 4) Was it possible for Hawa (as) to cover her aura with leaves, her whole body and her hair? Was she able to carry it around whole day without worrrying that one leave would fall off and expose her aura while she has to take care of her babies at the same time...? 5) The naked performing of hadj in the jahilliya is not far fetched since on the day of Judgement we will all be naked and we cannot hide from Allah, the same argument is quite islamic. 6) I think the issue of pornography is the taboe or limited sexual experience between husband and wife and it takes now more time to get married because their parents/imamas don't want them to get married before finishing studies and get a job to take care of the wife. It is not advised to get married unless you have a job and can take care of her (even if she has a job can take care of herself) 7) Adam was created from different earth from different places around the earth, so the children and siblings must have different genetical make-up as if they are from another ethnicity and therefore intermarrying was no problem and actually good for the genetic diversity. Allalhu a'lam May Allah protect us from fasha

Allah is everywhere and yes we affirm it. However your point is that if Allah is everywhere than why do we pray facing the Kabah(Qiblah) only? Well to answer that its because Allah had said so. And than the fact that Kabah was the first house of worship built on Earth so we muslims pray facing the kabah to show our respect, pay homage to the first house of worship and at the same time following what was commanded and that is to pray facing the Kabah. I hope that was kinda helpful. Also one more thing : you can make DUAS facing anywhere, you just have to bring your hands together, lift them high at the level of your chest or face and then make duas either facing the qiblah or anywhere more preferably the qiblah or facing up the skies and then making your duas. Salah on the other hand HAS to be performed in the direction of the Kabah (qiblah) only. Jazakallah. Hope that helps!

Summary(Important Notes) of The Stories of The Prophets- 28. The Story of Adam (Pt 16): Lessons of Haya (Modesty) Part - 1. This is Part-1 of the summary. Part-2 is commented in a different comment as the summary is too long to be commented on in one comment. The other comment is also in this comment box. Apologies for any inconvenience caused. The personal note ends... The story of Adam(AS) is mentioned in a detailed manner in Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 15 onwards. Only here, does the Qur’an link the story with the concept of modesty and covering and contrasts this with Shaitan’s attempt to bring about indecency, nakedness and nudity. Then Satan tempted them in order to expose what was hidden of their nakedness. He said, “Your Lord has forbidden this tree to you only to prevent you from becoming angels or immortals.” (Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 20) This shows that Shaitan tempted them with a clear agenda and that agenda was exposing their nakedness. Shaitan wants us to discard the fine garments Allah has blessed us with. He didn’t start tempting by mentioning his goal but he had it in his mind all along. He knew the first consequence of eating from the tree would be to expose what was hidden from their nakedness. O children of Adam! Do not let Satan deceive you as he tempted your parents out of Paradise and caused their cover to be removed in order to expose their nakedness. Surely he and his soldiers watch you from where you cannot see them. We have made the devils allies of those who disbelieve. (Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 27) Allah is reminding us using the story of Adam(AS) and cautioning us not to be deceived by Shaitan like our parents were. He is telling us not to go down the path of immorality and nudity. Our mother and father were tempted by immortality and they went down the path unwittingly. Unfortunately, today bulk of mankind have followed Shaitan in immorality even though we do not have the temptation of immorality. Shaitan is commanding people in today’s world to be immoral directly and people are following him. Surah Al-A’raf, Ayahs 20-28 links the entire narrative with modesty. The Prophet(SAW) said “Every religion has a defining characteristic. And the defining characteristic of our religion is حياء (modesty).” What were Adam(AS) and Hawa wearing in Jannah? There are certain opinions - 1. Some scholars say they were wearing clothes of Jannah. 2. Others say that they were covered by Allah’s permission with a special kind of light that would blind their intimate parts from each other. 3. A bizarre opinion is that they were covered with a special skin and that skin was removed from them when they ate of the tree and so humans are the only species with their skin showing. The more correct opinion is that they were wearing the clothes of Jannah but them being covered by a special kind of light is also acceptable. When they ate from the tree, those clothes or that special light was taken away from them. And so they didn’t have anything, they were naked. The Bible’s narrative is that they didn’t know anything and the tree was tree of knowledge and they got knowledge (and knowledge is not good for them) when they ate from the tree. So it is as if they are being told “Don’t learn anything”. In contrast, the Qur’an shows us that they were knowledgeable and they committed a sin. That sin took away Allah’s blessings from them. When the clothes were taken away, they started covering themselves with the leaves of Jannnah. This shows the sense of shame and modesty which is ingrained in all of us. Even a toddler understands that he/she needs to cover themselves. The sense of shame and awkwardness they feel is a reflection of the إيمان (faith) in their heart. The Awrah(parts that need to be covered) in public for a man is navel to knees and for a woman is the whole body except the hands and face. Indeed We have sent down to you a garment which covers your shame and provides protection and adornment. But the finest of all is the garment of piety. That is one of the signs of Allah so that they may take heed. (Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 26) After telling us the story of Adam(AS) and Hawa, Allah speaks to us directly. In Surah Al-A’raf, Ayah 26, Allah says “We have sent down to you a garment.” The word used here is the same word that is for sending down revelation, rain and other blessings. The origin of clothing goes back to our natural inclination towards covering ourselves. It is divinely given to us. The word used here shows that clothes are blessings from Allah and are default characterics of mankind. When it comes to this Ayah and clothes being revealed, certain opinions are - 1. Adam(AS) and Hawa came down to this Earth clothed, so the clothes came down with them. 2. They came down without clothing and they made the clothing on Earth. But the materials they used/we use to make clothes are coming from Allah. There are 2 reasons for clothes mentioned in Ayah 26 - to cover our nakedness and to look good. The modesty issue and the beauty issue both are fulfilled by the clothes. The Prophet(SAW) said “Allah loves beauty and He Himself is beautiful.” This shows that, within certain parameters (given by the religion), there is nothing wrong with wanting to be beautiful. Allah explicits links the story of Adam(AS) to concept of modesty and Allah uses the story of Adam(AS) and Hawa to caution us against immodesty. Therefore, anyone who openly encourages and embraces the lifestyle of flaunting one’s body is literally following the desires and footsteps of Shaitan. These days we have entire movements of “Embracing how God created us.” However, it is clear that Allah created us with the desire to be clothed and He blessed us with material to cloth ourselves with. So the natural state of mankind is to be clothed. This ends the Part-1 of the summary. Part-2 is in a different comment. Anyone who thinks I have missed some point is welcome to reply but please give the time in the lecture when Shaykh Dr. Yasir Qadhi talked about it so that I can be sure. JazakaAllah Khair
