Dag Lerner a.k.a. DJ Dag is a well known name in the trance and techno scene for many years already. He started with DJ-ing in the year 1985 and during the years he did play in several legendary German clubs such as Dorian Gray, the Omen, Cocoon and many others.
In 1990 Dag started a project together with Rolf Ellmer a.k.a. Jam El Mar: Dance 2 Trance. The project was very succesful and they released tracks such as “Power Of American Natives”, “Warrior”, “Hello San Francisco”, “Take A Free Fall” and “We Came In Peace”.
For this week’s vlog I sat down with Dag, to ask him about the story behind “We Came In Peace”, which was the B-side of the very first ever Dance 2 Trance release.

wow so many I would be lost in life without these interviews!! ha ha I always liked take a free fall but I gather power of American natives will be up there.... I enjoy the whole album moon spirits I have a couple of copies from other countries too due to the different track edits on some releases......

Many to choose from but releasewise my fav probably is Let’s Get Rollin’ as it has my fav D2T track, the ’91 mix of We Came in Peace. Was also my 2nd release from them, bought a few months after I had got the Dance 2 Trance single.

True story...Dag played Club UK in 94 and I just waltz into the booth high as a kite...he was not too pleased when I asked him to play Another Hot Day At The Bay by him...but 3 tracks later he dropped it in the set. I remember he wore i t shirt that said I'm Not A Jukebox in The Trance Europe Express booklet cd. I should have known better but the mdma made me forget. Sundown by The Volunteers is a Eye-Q classic...

I remember when Dj Dag played his own made record: The Volunteers - ' Sundown' in Sep. 1993 at the Warehouse in Cologne. This great moment, while we were listening and dancing to this fantastic trance record, we can't forget. R.i.P. Steffen Britzke Thank you for the nice interview.

We came in peace came back again in ‘93 because the acid stamp Green Peace was very popular in the clubs. The kids were tripping on it and begging the DJ to drop it lol

I’ve been a fan for over 30 years! One of my favourite projects. I was so fascinated with their music. It seemed to transmit awareness about the environment in their music (tracks such as Remember Exxon Valdez) and native people (Power of American Natives) which was quite unique at that time in the club scene!

I think Hanta Yo - The Joker was Dag's first release which I have on CD. Peyote - Alcatraz is another great track. Edit: Comment was before Dag commented on this.

One of my top 100 fav songs! We used to hear it in Los Angeles, downtown around 91-92 afterhours club Flammable Liquids, and also at Earth to Sea, with Dj Doc Martin.

We came in peace for all mankind! Such a legendary and beautiful track. I remember talking to Dag back in the day about the Native Americans of America and even going to their reservations. You can find this legendary track featured here for a set i did around the time of an opening for Rolf Ellmer on Report2DanceFloor Radio. Love these guys productions. They're on my looooong wish list, but unfortunately they live really far and I have a very tight travel budget. The last donations were used for the interviews with Ingo Kunzi and DJ Dag. Hopefully I'll be able to make another trip to Germany in the future, but right now I simply don't have time and budget for new foreign trips (donations are always welcome, keep in mind Muzikxpress is just a hobby for me and advertising revenue is very minimal unfortunately....)

For now I’m not really looking for suggestions, sorry! I have a wish list with more than 100 people, so ideas enough. Time and especially travel budget are my main issues. So I’m pretty picky when it comes to interviews, just being honest! I only was able to make the 2 interviews with DJ Dag and Ingo Kunzi (so more to come soon!) happen thanks to donations from a nice amount of subscribers. For now I don’t have any German trips in the works, hopefully in the future when there’s enough time and budget again. Thanks for your understanding!
