A team of extreme cleaners pick their way through the home of a deceased man in order to clear it and prepare it for a new tenancy.
The home clearance unearths the revolting conditions this poor man lived in during his twilight years.
Unfortunately it's just another day on the job for these hardened home clearance specialists. With no family or next of kin, the team have no alternative but to shovel the entire contents of the property into bins and cart it off for destruction.

It's a little creepy how all the clocks in the flat have stopped. The old man passes away, his time has stopped, but the world doesn't. Soon the cleaners will be in to remove it all, and everything is lost to time

Sometimes I wonder how many "Anne Frank Diaries" or "Vincent van Gogh's" or "Leonardo Da Vincies" have been thrown into the trash, if you know what I mean. It's quite possible that other people had diaries about the war, those were tossed out without any thought. Peoples paintings, lost in a fire or stolen or otherwise broken. Brilliant thoughts written down, poetry that they thought of. God knows what kind of interesting life people can have. Just because Leonardo Da Vinci his sketches were found, doesn't mean that another artist did not exist...perhaps his items were burned or plundered and sold, vanished. There are so many brilliant minds, that were silently brilliant and never acknowledged.

They were all lovely when new, but now they are so mistreated and poorly maintained these days, that they give off such a negative vibe, you don't really want to live there unless you must and most families who do live in them say they'd rather live somewhere else.

I watched a similar episode where they kept a lot of stuff for the family of the guy who died, it's called "the house not tidied for 60 years" or something. So of course it's possible for them to keep things so long as there's somewhere for it to go. My guess is this guy didn't have any family/friends, at least ones which didn't care enough, didn't know him or couldn't take his meaningful possessions, so there was nowhere to go for it except the bin.

@@videogalore i think things are a lot more complicated then its let on- i'm not a lawyer in Britain so i don't know everything, but i know things get weird when a body dies near items, things can only get so dirty before its deemed too unsafe to give away, and i have no idea what the drown stuff on the man's floor was. (any kind of human/animal fluids seems to be a big thing on the shows i watched when it comes to needing to throw things away for sure, it wasn't proven in this episode though so the items could have been safe) Another problem i think, is legal ownership? like, even if the man passed away, if he has any family, if they say to throw it away, they can't really do much about it. And even if the man died truly alone there might be some law about companies taking personal items for profit of another company, but like i said before, i could be totally wrong.

My 2 daughters and I went to his apartment to at least do some of the cleaning out a few days later. It wasn't quite as bad as this one, but some of it (the bathroom, for example) was fairly close. He never was one to keep things tidy and he had lost the sight of one eye and was also becoming confused. We were trying to get him into assisted living when he died suddenly. I didn't feel anything in his apartment but I did have a certain dream that I've been getting for years whenever someone close to me dies. Trust me, that was creepy. Cleaning is a skill... if you are never taught something, no matter how simple, your brain won't automatically try to do it. Don't clean up after your kids, teach them how to clean. Its easy for a lazy person who was never taught how to clean properly to let a house get pretty bad, get depressed about it and overwhelmed and just let it keep getting worse and worse. I was there, I hated the state of house more than anything, I coulnt bring over a woman for 4 years, but i didnt have the tools mentally to fix it myself. Now I'm much better and my house is very clean!

I watch this video and think about the Brazilian reality, the items would all be severely cleaned and then put on sale in a bazaar. Here, things are reasonably expensive and the purchasing power is low. Here an object is only discarded when it is totally useless or when it is severely contaminated.

Honestly, i wish i had the money to start a Pre-Clean business that focusses on going in the day before and trying to pick anything of value, sentimental or otherwise out of it. Atleast then any distant family might still have a chance to recover anything of emotional value later down the line. Imagine some of the Vintage or Antique stuff worth thousands that no one wants in the houses of 7-80-90 year old residents who have died, no one cared about, and just gets thrown and crushed in a truck.

Everyone in the comments saying its sad everything about this guy has been destroyed. You need to accept that if you make no effort to leave anything important behind, say a painting, or a song, your going to fade into non existence. It's simply the nature of things.

a prole that’s how it is for most people, how do you know there weren’t beautiful poems in those draws or paintings or any of creation or contribution in his life? You don’t know anything about this person. Even if you do good or create art of any kind the chances of anyone valuing it when you die is piss poor. It is the nature of things but that doesn’t mean it isn’t terribly sad. Life is shitty.
