Judit Polgar is an inspiration. She became the strongest woman player the game has ever seen. She is the only female in the world who has crossed 2700 Elo, broke into top 10 in the world, fought for the World Championship title in 2007, defeated all the top players in the world of chess including Vishy Anand, Garry Kasparov, Vladimir Kramnik, Anatoly Karpov and everyone else!
Chess is being played professionally for over a century now. Why has the world seen only one female player who has been able to match her wits with the best in the business? What did Judit Polgar do that made her into such a fierce champion? In this interview with IM Sagar Shah we get to know everything about Judit's life. Right from the time she learnt chess, to how she beat Kasparov in 2002 when the Russian was on the height of his powers.

This is long after the event but thank you ChessBase India for yet another superbly conducted interview. I am always struck by the astuteness of the questions and the graceful ability to listen to the reply. Judith looked and sounded very comfortable and I am also impressed by her candour tempered by subtle diplomacy when required.

you're right a shame on Kasparov the world chess champion he dropped a knight and placed it back ,Carlos Falcon the arbitrer didn't notice kasparov dropped the piece,but t.v. cameras said the opposite.

You've gotta ask yourself why there are separate female/male categories. Isn't that implying there's a difference in a male and female brain when it comes to chess? That's not true is it? I get there's a difference physically, but what's the difference with something like chess?
