Mythology & Fiction Explained I never understood that either. Percy jackson is based off of greek mythology and maybe the authors target audience swears by it. It's best to read about the actual mythologies b/c they're very fascinating but if you don't want to read the books there's a series called Clash of the Gods that explores the greek myths very well. It's not restricted to those myths as there's an episode about Beowulf and I think Thor(not the Marvelized version)
