It was a great honor and my regiment to take part in the ceremony, standing vigil the night before and then marching with these soldiers to each part of the ceremony. Greatly thank you for coming out and filming out that day, was a little chill and rain that morning. But it cleared up really well to make a wonderful event.

After all the ceremonies I was honored to be one of the reenactors who helped load the remains of these men into the hearses. I helped carry soldier 13C, the youngest of the dead.

I believe they said he was believed to be somewhere in the range of 14 to 16 years old.

The guys who made it all happen. We venerate the elites who were the architects of this country, but we don’t talk much about the junior officers, NCOs, and young privates that had to do the actual work

I don’t know if you’re familiar with the “Townsends” channel here on KZfaq, but they do a lot of stuff that focuses on what the average soldiers went through in the revolutionary war. Food, and general living conditions they faced, and little “hacks” as we call them nowadays, that the men would have to make do. Check it out if you haven’t already 😀✌🏻🇺🇸

At the final battle, Georgetown, there were more French regular troops present than revolting colonists and British troops combined. "If it wasn't for the French, America would still be speaking English "

CEO of the South Carolina battleground trust Doug Bostick has stated in a separate video that two of the remains were identified to be as young as 14-16 years old.

I don't understand why the Sec/Army wouldn't let them stay there or go to Arlington. I guess she knows best...

We were under the impression that it was still being discussed. The bodies were fairly recently found and nothing moves too fast in those decisions. The archeologist expressed hope that they would be returned. We would echo that hope.

@@FittingInAdventure I think if they remain there they need to kind of set up like something kind of like a memorial for these men you id be okay with them staying there as long as we do something so that people know they are soldiers are buried there but if they aint gonna do something like i think Arlington cemetery would be a perfect fit for them but i kind of hope the do something there as memorial for all the dead that died during that battle.

The archeologist brought up memorials in place but burials where they were found. There are likely hundreds more there.

It seems to me that because the dead soldiers were burried where they lay Camden Battlefield is effectively a War Grave and should be rendered the honors due the same.

i hate that line. Gates didn't do so well in the South, but his achievements earlier in the war were crucial to the survival of the Continental Army. He helped the Continentals transform into a force that could fight for ground against a European style army, volley for volley, and that was still important.

@@timlamiam oh I agree. I’m just doing it for shits and gigs man. His exploits here great. I won’t ever take that away from him, I feel like he would be a GREAT commander for troops that need training. He’s got BALLS MAD discipline. Like people don’t get how big balls it took to do what he did in the middle of a field against the TRAINED British regulars. It’s wild.

i don’t understand that logic: they refused to show the burial site of a native American soldier but the rest weren’t even given the same respect by not showing them? how exactly is it any different, just because idiots desecrated burials of deceased in the past every native American must now be treated that way regardless of it being a hastily buried body that likely wasn’t given basic burial rites?
