@@Raccoon_Mama. Nobody here is talking about killing them. I encourage you to read more into this. Interacting with wild animals to this extent causes them to be less fearful of humans and view them as a source of food. This leads to more deer being killed on roadways and residential areas. Many conservation departments advise against this type of interaction for that very reason. I have no idea where you got the “excuse for killing them” idea. I don’t want these guys to become roadkill.

I’m certain they’ll be fine. Despite the stereotypes, hunting has rules and regulations that limit when hunters can hunt, what animals, breeds, and genders they’re allowed to hunt, and has a set limit of how many animals that person can shoot in a single season, along with required licenses and even more rules on where you shoot the animal to ensure the quickest and painless death possible. There’s even rules on how big a buck’s antlers have to be, otherwise they won’t count and you can get arrested. Believe me, people DO get arrested when they try to do things illegally, and a good portion of them are poachers (the criminals of hunting. They’re despised by any professional hunter). If you somehow screw up and make an illegal kill (it has happened before when the gun itself isn’t right or the hunter screwed up on the sights), then they should inform a game warden or some other authority about the situation (people who try to get away are often found out. Bullet wounds and hunting locations are one hell of a give-away to narrow down your options. Also, hunters are usually spread thin so the culprits aren’t hard to find). People have to pay a very heavy fine that make speeding tickets look like an I.O.U. if they make illegal kills (ESPECIALLY if the animal is endangered), but it would be even worse to found out later. Now, despite everything I just told you, I’d like to go on record and say a good portion of hunting is actually less shooting and more sitting in a forest and taking in nature. A lot more peaceful than what stereotypes would have you believe. The shooting is like 10% of hunting and the other 90% is just sitting, reading a book, talking with your friends, etc. I would also like to point out that animal overpopulation is a thing that only hunting has managed to maintain. If animals overpopulate (which deer are a part of) then crops could be ruined, land could be destroyed, car crashes via deer happen more often, and the deer themselves suffer from starvation, week bodies, and become easy food for predators Despite EVERYTHING I’ve just mentioned, this is only the tip of the iceberg, so I can assure you that these deer are in safe hands.

@@couragew6260 oh, good grief. I didn't even read your dribble past painless death. As if these dumb, half drunk Bambi killing bubbas could aim. What about bow hunters? Is that painless? You got a lot of nerve showing up here on this good man's thread. I hate hunters and I wish you would all face the same and as your victims. And no I don't eat animals to answer your obvious question. As much as possible on this Earth where people have figured out to use animals in so many horrible ways, I live my life without eating their bodies or bodily secretions.

Thank you for sharing that with us period I was wondering how it all started you have a beautiful herd . I'm originally from northern Maine and the deer had a tendency to try to avoid us all the time. I now live in Southern Maine years ago when we lived on a dead in street in Auburn we would have a lot of deer hanging around especially during hunting season. I worked second shift in a factory and I was coming home one night and I saw something going in front of my car. I wasn't sure what it was but when I put my Lights on high beam I could see an entire herd of deer standing in front of me and going across a neighbor's back field. Absolutely beautiful. I always loved hunting season because it would bring the deer to me and they were never harmed around our place.

I have fed wild red deer with my ex bf, he was a gamekeeper. We would feed them Deer Cobs and hay. They would come running when they saw the Skidoo coming towing the bales of hay behind, out to their feeding grounds. We had to be very wary of the more friendly ones as their antlers are huge & if they drop their head, they might swish their neck & hit you really hard with those antlers, maybe even gore you. So unless you know the deer really well, I'd say to anyone, enjoy your encounter with these beautiful gentle animals but be careful & stand back from the antlers.
