Interesting way of telling Alice's story. At first I thought it wasn't very good but it captured me after he walked into Alice's room. His sacrifice...so selfless, like a real father. Loved it!

What I find interesting about Twilight is that younger vampires are more powerful than older vampires. I feel like most other vampire lore states that the older the vampire, the more powerful they are.

Younger are stronger by tge fresh blood of their own but unskilled, distracted and uncontrolled. Older are the opposite and slightly weaker as the blood that gives strength is not their own. Have you heard the saying, Teenage: time✔, money ❌,energy✔, experience10%. Middle age: time❌, money✔, energy✔, experience 50%. Old age: time✔, money✔, energy❌, experience 90%. Just like this, young vampires are like teenagers.

I’m the first book it actually explains this she discovered how she was turned when they fought and defeated James who was trying to kill Bella they said it was some kind of fetish for him or something to fight other vampires over women they loved or something and that he had killed the vampire who turned her previously she didn’t know this herself until then I think Edward told her about it

The transformation into a vampire is insanely painful and lasts for 3 - 5 days. The groundskeeper had to fight James and Victoria for about 3 whole days. That is how irresistible Alice's blood is, normally a predator would give up after so much trouble unless the prize was good enough.

I think she was seeing 2 paths in her visions. It seemed like the path if she was to join the Volturi and a path where she met Jasper and they search for the Cullens. And who’s to say. Maybe she did. She was a new vampire, all of them struggled and didn’t become “vegetarian” over night. And she had to learn on her own. Even Bella struggled but I think the only reason she was able to fight it was because she had the cullens, her dad and friends I e Jacob and I think her powers helped her a lot. She was mostly immune to vampire powers before she turned which I’m sure heightened once she became a vampire

So, we know it takes at least 3 days for the transformation to take place. Was Kumbo fighting James and Victoria for days while Alice completed her transition? Loved the bond between Alice and Kumbo, but James and Victoria were kind of cartoonish. I hope that was intentional. In any case, some interesting choices here.

They are nomads. They roam and hunt wherever they want. They were passing by and heard or sensed the Cullens while they were playing baseball. There was no indication at this point if James recognized Alice but later on in the story, when he lured Bella to the ballet studio, he mentioned Alice and how he’s been longing to drink her blood but the groundkeeper transformed Alice and so he killed him.
