The strange happenings of this hidden beach in a Wisconsin woods - City slickers BEWARE!!! There is a hidden beach in the north woods of Wisconsin where strange things happen to those who dare go in the water. No joke! This Wisconsin lake contains an unusual phenomena that will surprise even the strongest of city men. Of course, Marty being the guy he is jumped right in. I soon followed. What we encountered was incredible to say the least. Find out what bizarre things we experienced while swimming at this lake's hidden beach in this episode of SightseeingSally.
About me: I grew up in a small town the Midwest. Now I drive America's backroads exploring small towns, forgotten places, local history and more!

Jefferson Texas has a haunted hotel. They also have a guided ghost tour there. I gave a woman a ride on my motorcycle and my buddy said that he saw me go downtown but he didn't see any woman on my motorcycle. She was cold as she put her arms around me. When we got back to the hotel- I dropped her off and she never said a word. When I looked back- there was nobody there

I got a doozy of a newlywed story about our very first rental in 1979. It was an upper 2 BR duplex just South of the MKE airport where the owners lived directly below us. Late at night, I immediately started to witnesss a dark figure walk very slowly past the doorway, into our bedroom, stare out the LR windows or just sit on the furniture. It was a corner lot lined with a lot of street lights so the 2 large living room windows allowed a ridiculous amount of light to enter the room at night, even with the curtains closed. Our bedroom was directly off the living room so I had clear shot of the LR right from our bed. My wife insisted I was dreaming or drank too much on those mornings I told her what I saw. We started playing card games with the landlords about once a month and one night I straight out asked them, who lived in the upper flat prior to us. He looked very confused and asked me why I wanted to know. I told him about my regular experiences with this short, wandering woman in a black dress. They both looked at me with frightful wide eyes and told us it was rented it to an elderly woman who had recently passed away up there, under very tragic circumstances. I asked what were the tragic circumstances and they refused to elaborate or even talk about it so I resolved myself to never mention it again. This woman never gave me a sense or feeling of fear, not ever. The first 2 years, I was the only one that saw her until one night, my wife sat up in bed and gently shook me awake. In a soft scared voice, she said "Who's that, someone is at the foot of the bed watching us". My instantaneous response was "I told you she's real, I'm not crazy". Then she slowly waked out and turned left down the hallway towards the kitchen. She was only 4 feet from us, only about 5' tall with long grey hair under a head scarf but, I could never make out any clear facial features. After that night, she began to show herself to my wife although not as regular as she did to me. We saw her too many times to even count and I have no idea how or why but, she never once instilled any sense of fear onto us. We lived with her about 4 1/2 years, until my wife became pregnant with our 2nd child. I truly believe she found joy or purpose in watching our son lay in his crib for 2 years, After we moved, we saw the landlord's wife pretty regularly as she worked as a waitress where we sometimes had Friday Fishfrys. Years later, she still refused to talk about the woman in our upper flat. We learned they both passed away within 10 years of each other. I'm tempted to try and track down one of their 3 kids to ask them about the duplex they grew up in because we knew the 2 oldest kids moved into the upper when they hit their late teens. Hand to God, this is a true story.

I love this! My grandkids and I had so much fun at Whitewater Lake, we started putting pieces of cookies in-between our toes and they would nibble them. It is just a ticklish sensation, so fun! When I was a kid, my parents bought a bus that had been turned into a camper and my dad loved to just drive around to see what was down the road. We found lots of cool places.

What a cute little beach in some very clear water with little friendly fishees. I'll also have you know I've literally been binge watching your videos. There's just something about seeing all the sleepy little towns with you and Marty with your "real people" touch. It all started with the one about my home town West Bend. Now I'm hooked. I LOVE little towns and West Bend is way too big for me. Just too much work and money to move. Here I stay to live vicariously through you and Marty.

What a beautiful lake! We are so truly blessed to live in the beautiful state of Wisconsin! When hubby and I were training our Newfoundland dogs for water rescue work, we had access to a well stocked private pond. Many "treats" were used in training and the fishies soon learned that dogs and humans = goodies. Didn't take long before they were swimming around us the minute our feet touched the water. 🙂 There were some pretty big fish in that pond and some times the nibbles could give quite a startle! Was always a blast when we had new people (that weren't used to the fish) help us (by playing drowning victim) with training. Somehow, getting nibbled seemed to put a little more urgency in their "help dog" distress calls. 🤣

The fish checking out your feet reminds me of the Garra rufa, sometimes called doctor fish, that eat the dead skin off of your feet. My friend had this type of pedicure in Turkey. She said her feet were so incredibly smooth, & the fish removed all of her callouses & even took off some of her hard cuticles. I believe she said that other countries in the Middle East also offer these type of pedicures. I would not be interested in a fish pedicure, because of my back ground in infectious disease nursing.

I grew up on a lake in Rhinelander. The blue gills would do this to us. They were fairly tame, because we fed them the heels from loaves of bread. It would actually be sort of annoying. If you had a mosquito bite you scratched at, they would bite at the scabs. I think that any lake where they are cool with humans, they will behave this way. Fish are pretty stupid.

You couldn't just walk away Sally, now could ya. It was obvious you loved creating SightseeingSally videos too much to just give up, and I applaud your decision. Now as for a more noir tone, it can be done for almost nothing, like the MrBallen channel. I don't watch his channel anymore but the man gets a hell of a lot of hits, like over a million in a matter of days. So it is possible, it is a matter of finding the right tone, the right stories, and your conviction and drive to succeed. Heck, if i can keep getting better technically and creatively after over 40 years of digital Imaging experience all it really takes is the will to crush your enemy/competition, in your case youtube. I wish you well
