Here are my thoughts on The Stranger by Albert Camus where everything is INTERESTING! If you've read it, let me know your thoughts! Have you read the Plague? How does that one compare?

This isn’t a book I’d be interested in, but somehow I read it and ended up liking it a lot. Great review.

this book really stuck with me when I read it a few years ago. great review, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'd also recommend The Fall =)

I also ended up really enjoying this book! I read it back in college (without it being assigned to me, I just went through an existentialist literature phase 😂) and it was one of the first books I ever wrote a word document review for, just for myself before the days of blogging or booktubing because I also thought it was just so interesting!

I read Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘Talking to Strangers’ recently and he talks about how people who don’t respond the “way they should” and how we as a society marginalise these people. I found it interesting how the trial focused more on how he responded to his Mother’s death/funeral more than how he murdered another man. It is both darkly hunouroua but also uncomfortable realistic.

I haven’t read this book, but now I’m definitely intrigued. Interesting that it provokes such strong and diverse feelings in the readers.

When you pick it up, definitely let me know what your reactions are. It had a lot of varying reactions in my class.

Connor O'Brien I’ll definitely do that. I want to read The Brothers Karamazov first. I’ve asked Santa for it, so hopefully I’ve been a good enough girl to get it 😄

I read this book back in high school for fun and just thought the book was so unsatisfying. After watching this vid, I def see it in a new light and the book just became much more interesting. Will you do a review on The Brothers Karamazov? Would love to see how law plays a role in that book as well. Also, the Everyman's Library editions look so nice!!

I plan to do a review! I just know it’s going to be a bit more difficult to speak about it coherently, so I’ve been delaying. I love the Everyman’s Library editions so far. They’re really well-made books.

I've read the book and it took me quite a bit to finish it although it was rather short. I want to reread it at some point, because it felt like I was only exlporing the surface of it.

I definitely think it has a high rereadability. I bet you find so much extra a second time through

Firstly we will ban the word - interesting 😂. But a good review enough to push me to finally get to the Brothers Karamazov and then this.

June’s Reading adventure hahaha for real! Even while filming I realized how much I was using the word. I just couldn’t think of another word that conveyed my thoughts better. The Brother’s Karamázov is great! I plan to film my review for that one some time this week!

My addiction psychiatrist said to me that I reminded him of Meursault. eg ;life is meaningless. we have no purpose, worth, after death , a endless black silence.

Camus is one of my favorite novelists/philosopher. Absurdism appeals so much to me, with the idea of the futility of human life. You should check out "the myth of Sisyphus" which is Camus's book comparing human life to the myth of Sisyphus. "The Fall" is my favorite novel of his, the whole book is a one sided conversation where a man at a bar is talking at you. Jean-Paul Sartre is another French philosopher you might want to check out, he is an existentialist. (Sorry if this comment is all over the place, I'm typing as I'm watching.)

I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for those! The style of The Fall seems really different and could be really interesting. I welcome all the recommendations since I’m pretty new to classics in general and French philosophers especially.
