Colbert is one of the kings of dry awkward sarcasm and Em is virtually a pro comedian. I remember losing my mind when I first saw this.

The best way I can describe what’s happening is to say it’s a parody interview. Like “Between two Ferns” the person being interviewed only knows that’s it’s going to be ridiculous. So not necessarily staged but it’s more improvised.

The joke from that movie "The Interview" is goated. That is just the ultimate micdrop of Em paving over all of his homophobic comedy in his songs. Brilliantly. No apology required. Humor heals any wounds that occurred.

Look at bloopers from between two ferns. Shits better than the actual show, and also shows how fake it is. I wish the whole show would just be what the bloopers are lmao. They could still answer the questions and everything, and I think it'd even lead to more hilarious interaction

Colbert is a professional troll! 🤣🤣🤣 His stuff is so funny and Em is rolling with it (though not exactly sure what to take seriously). Colbert and Em's humor actually fit really well together. 😂 I would have loved to see Em's reaction after the cameras cut and Colbert just started laughing and told him he was just fu%&ing with him!

This legitimately occurred on a local public tv show in Monroe, MI. Stephen Colbert is famous for his comedy, especially hosting shows. Idk why he did this public access show interviewing eminem but I love it

i remember everyone wondering not just when colbert would be back on tv but wondering for real who would colbert even be! since most of us (not me) only knew him from colbert report satirizing republican pos bill o'reilly. this interview wasn't just the colbert we know now interviewing ...he was an enigma, veritable blank slate of potential. so we were right there in that same seat with eminem. what. .... is this ...? what's happening...?

It was a real local broadcast from that city. Stephen Colbert was called to come in and host and he got EMINEM to come in for an interview and they decided to make a joke out of the whole thing pretending he didn’t have a clue who EMINEM is to fill airtime.

This may have been promo for Colbert. He took over hosting a public access show for the day in July. His network talk show started in September. There were more interviews earlier in the show. I’m not sure if Eminem was in on it but I would think so. 😂😂
