In the game Gladius: Relics of War (a 4x based computer game), within the Tyranid campaign, there is the story of the planet Gladius fighting back against the Tyranid swarm. The flora and fauna begin the counter-assault (Catachan Devils included) and then the planet deploys interception/control of the hive-mind relay system to turn one swarm on the other. There is some alien device or being inside the planet doing all this and it features in the game as boons given at alien tech power node locations. I shan't spoil the ending, but it is a great game, particularly the Tyranid campaign. I'm sure I've forgotten plenty of details even within that story, so check it out.

They themselves cant but since the eye of terror is its own warp rift any species can kind just fall into it.

That's why Ouroborus is so dangerous, if they learn to travel through the warp, that will increase the Tyranid threat permanently

They're perfectly balanced for 40k levels of insanity. The reason the nids are doing so well is cause everyone else is also busy fighting each other and would never align against the nids.

see what's interesting is that they really aren't, they are the most consistent, balanced, and amusingly enough sane faction in 40K, it's everyone else that needs to stop passing around the bullshit hax(imperium "just winning" despite having no actual listed reasons, Chaos doing chaos things, Eldar "I'm perfect and all my plans are perfect" despite it making no damn sense, etc etc) and idiot balls(Imperium shooting itself literally, Chaos doing chaos things, Eldar "I am never wrong!"-ignoring all evidence to the contrary, etc etc.) respectively.

How about a new previous unknown alien race arrives in the milky way. It turns out the Tyranids were infact fleeing from this alien race proving that theory to be correct. They have some kind of weaponry that disrupts and hurts the hive mind with psychic feedback and it turns Tyranid bio forms into pools of liquified unusable bio mass in seconds by breaking them down at a cellular level almost instantly.These new aliens share their technology with the imperium because their whole purpose is to destroy the hive mind and end the threat of the Tyranids to the universe forever. All space marine chapters are immediately armed with this new anti Tyranid tech and entire battalions of them are placed on planets around the edges of the galaxy. This effectively acts like a barrier to make sure the Tyranids are unable to make any progress deeper towards Terra.
