"I can see the photo you wanted to take, and what I am looking at is the photo that you settled to take."
Today I will be showcasing the work of Jeremy Paige. Jeremy is based in Hollywood and his photographs are some of the most recognizable contemporary street work out there. A huge thank you to Marti Alonzo (6.tiff) for lending me his footage of Jeremy on the streets. This video wouldn't have been possible (or as good) without it.

I am a professional photographer for over 10 years now, in the fields of portraiture and architecture. After seeing Jeremys work, I completely have to reevaluate my work, it is so mind blowing. I have not seen such creative photography in a very long time. Thanks for the inspiration!
@Nitidus
@Nitidus 3 ай бұрын
This is without any intent to take away from Jeremy's work, but if this led you reevaluate your overall photography then you've apparently never looked into the history of photography and the work of the all-time greats. Like, he has some cool ideas and I do like his style, but many of his photographs are quite gimmicky, as in, the idea behind it is really simple/superficial. Shallow. No offence intended. On the bright side, this means you've still got a lot of inspirational discoveries to make looking at the actual titans of street photography and photojournalism. I acknowledge the fact that you seem to be an architectural photographer, so perhaps you see yourself more as a craftsman than an artist. But I do think that, no matter your individual specialty, every photographer who wants to consider themselves the latter should take the time to dive into the overall history of photography at some point and look into the work of people who defined their genres. There is so much inspiration to get with such little effort. It makes it feel weird for me to see people's minds being blown by rather simple things when much more impactful work is literally just a Google search away. And again, this is not in any way meant to be a take "against Jeremy." It's just some general commentary on the subject.

I like how candid Jeremy is with his process. Street photographers are like hunters where they can spend hours in a single spot waiting to take one defining photo. Being this excited and obsessed about photography is a great feeling and is always rewarding.

Having only been exposed to the type of street photography that could be best described as single-person-profile-shot-mid-stride, I got bored of it very quickly. I’d think ‘what makes this interesting? Someone walking…?’ The 13 minutes of watching this film has shown me what real street photography is about and what can be achieved with patience, vision and a ballsy attitude. Thanks so much for showing what street photography can be and should be.

"I can see the photo you wanted to take, and what I am looking at is the photo that you settled to take." - This resonates with me A LOT and reminds me to step out of my comfort zone more often. Jeremy's pictures are unreal, but I found his words equally inspiring, at least. Thank you for another episode definitely worth watching, Bryan!
