Not the Same Anymore / Lyrics You're not the same anymore Don't wanna play that game anymore You'd make a better window than a door All the strangers, they implore They get so easy to ignore Just like the girl next door Uncle's house, it was noon Sorry boy, I can't implore ya You are strange but I like you Sorry, this is overdue I promised I would do it right Her and a boy on a Saturday night And now the door slams shut The child prisoner grows up To seek his enemies' throat cut I'm on and on it, on and on and on it We're on the way, fuel the jet Can see that what he wants, he gets What does your sworn enemy regret? I didn't know, I didn't care I don't even understand Did somethin' wrong, I wasn't sure Stay on top of this horse I was afraid, I fucked up Yeah, yeah, yeah I couldn't change, it's too late And now it's time to show up I'm late again, I can't grow up And now it's on me, they've given up Uncle's house, I forget Violent tendencies I give Your timing sucks, she went overboard Don't forget, you are insured I didn't know, I wasn't sure Can't remember all that well I couldn't change, was too late Yeah, yeah, yeah

I'm gonna say something I reckon a lot of Strokes fans have been thinking/feeling for a long time. Keep in mind, I'm a HUGE HUGE Strokes fan. The band are just immensely talented. Albert, Nick, Nikolai and Fab have to be 4 of the best musicians (especially together) that have popped up in the last 2 decades, and they're always incredibly tight when playing live. And I LOVE Julian. I love the guy. But I think the history of the band would've been different if they had a different singer after Jules started drifting off course, I guess somewhere around 2005-6-7. I feel like these 4 amazing musicians almost deserve a more motivated singer. I keep hoping that Jules is gonna wake up one day and go "damn, I love this life, I've gotta put more effort into my performances!"... but it just never happens. Btw - this is probably my equal fave song on the new album, along with 'Why are Sundays so depressing'. :)
