There might be a "trick" (or rather technique) to it as well. Just like tearing phone books, you can't just start pulling on the pages. You have to angle the book in a certain way. This might be the same.

Cards are a good bit more difficult in my opinion. There is technique to it. But the technique is not as effective as phonebook tearing.

I had a friend that ripped a 3 inch yellow pages in half (just like Rob did with the 3 packs of cards). This was in 1981. He used to also tear quarters in half. I couldn't believe it, when he did it. His grip is (was ) super human. Love your show. These 4 are ALWAYS fun to watch.

If anyone doubts this, there is historical footage of a strongman ripping two decks. Video is titled "strong man (1944)" and is under the channel "british pathe." Three decks is not too far of a stretch after seeing the video.
