Nick Markakis was actually drafted as a pitcher and was placed in the outfield. That's why he was in right. That's why his arm is so strong.

The guys I always remembered as a Jays fan is Raul Mondesi and Shawn Green. If memory serves me, I think Mondesi had a tattoo of a cannon on his arm. Biggest difference between the two was you actually had some idea of where Green's throw was landing. Mondesi had power, but it could hit home plate with no bounce or end up somewhere behind the third base dugout with a fan.

Hey guy! Just caught your videos about a week or so ago. In truth, I never thought much about what the life of an MLB player was all about. Outside of playing a ton of "D" League Softball (slow pitch), and hours and hours of Status Pro Baseball, the subjects never came to me. I find these videos informational, and personally entertaining. I'm a person who was always SO FAR from being a great athlete it never concerned me... but your narrative I find engrossing... Thank you.

My favorite is Yadier Molina, that dude has a canon and unlike alot of catchers he's not gonna hold on to a ball in fear of making an error. There will be a dude on third and if that guy gets to far off the bag he's gonna throw it and keep him in check and the same goes for first. There is videos on KZfaq showing off his arm and their so incredibly to watch him make amazing plays you would think to be to risky or impossible.

Growing up, you could go early to games and after batting practice teams would do fielding practice. Coaches hit to outfielders and had to throw to second, then third, then home. So great to see those with great - accurate arms. Clemente was the classic. White Sox had young outfielder Mike Hershberger who could really throw and was relatively small.

If your throwing mechanics are wrong you'll experience PAINNN If you overdo it a shitton you will experience PAINNN If you have both you will experience BOLTS IN YOUR ARM But basically you wanna ice your arm, rest it for 3 days, and get back in it. Just don't overdo it to much, work yourself into it if your new.

I remember seeing a game in ‘94 with Marquis Grissom of the Expos. Matt - when I was a Little Leaguer I saw Roberto Clemente (in the old St. Louis Cardinals Sportsmans Park - I'm really old!) field a base hit to right field and throw to third. The ball left Clemente's hand at shoulder height and I swear to you the ball never varied up or down and went straight to the third basemen on the line and a waist-high strike. I've never seen anything like that since!!

In high school I played against a big hard throwing left-handed pitcher named Randy Johnson. He threw really hard and I was choking up on a 28" bat with a big barrel. I got lucky and got a hit up the middle, a line drive right through the box. I was standing on first and wasn't even leading off and he threw to first. I stood there and watched it coming. At the last second the first baseman pulled his glove down and the ball hit me right in the chest. You could see the seam marks on my chest for days. True story. No, it wasn't that Randy Johnson, but this guy did go to triple A.

Markakis was one of the top JUCO pitchers in the country and also a strong pro pitching prospect. Apparently he was 23-3 with 258 Ks in two years. I can name one person in particular that I met at a tryout for the Kansas City Royals. This guy named Elton Pollock had the most amazing cannon I had ever seen. He made Andruw Jones and Raul Mondesi (the two greatest arms in MLB at that time) look weak. Elton was in his Senior year at Presbyterian College in South Carolina. He went on to play 3 years in the Pirates Minor League system. He is currently the head coach of his alma mater Presbyterian, where he just achieved his 300th win as the manager. Elton is an absolute great person as well.

68 year old geezer here. Strongest arm: RF Rocky Colavito. Not always the most accurate, but definitely the strongest.

Antonelli Baseball Rocky threw a number of balls over the centerfield fence from home plate. His throws from the outfield were low line drives like Ichiro. I think that Ichiro had the greatest arm when you consider strength and accuracy. In my time, you also had Roger Maris, Dave Parker, Roberto Clemente, Al Kaline. Here is a link regarding the longest throws. Rocky is in the article: prestonjg.wordpress.com/2009/12/04/the-history-of-the-record-for-baseballs-longest-thrown-a-tale-that-involves-john-hatfield-honus-wagner-sheldon-lejeune-don-grate-rocky-colavito-and-glen-gorbous-among-others/

Gio never played for the Ports. He was in the A's AAA system or majors, at all times, after the A's traded Nick Swisher for him. Rivercats is the answer Matt was looking for.

You know who surprised Me with his arm? Gary Sheffield; obviously, his bat speed was something else, but I saw him make a throw at Dodger Stadium, uphill, from deep in left, and I said "Damn."
