For some feedback: The Musashi event gave a bit of insight into the sub factions (or at least the idealogical factions). With Yamato at the top, Musashi under her and Nagato/Akagi/Mikasa under that.

One other sub-faction for Dragon Empery would be the "Four Unbreakables" or the Four Auspicious Beast from East Asian Mythology. It consists of An Shan ( Seiryuu of the East) Fu Shun ( Suzaku of the South) Chang Chun ( Byakko of the West) and Tai Yuan ( Genbu of the North).

Personally I think the Robo Hands subfaction isn't comprised of exactly robotic implants users, but instead mechanical gauntlets users The most notable of this is Graf Spee, which has a lot of skins where she can be seen with the gauntlets removed The same applies for the rest of them, and the newest of them all, Magdeburg, follows the trend with her summer skin

I hope they expand the Sub faction in game, it'll be cool to see more of them. Also in the Iron Blood you could add the SMS faction which contains WW1 high seas fleet of the imperial German Navy. I hope more WW1 ships.

For the Eagle Union Id like to consider the Beaver Squadron as a sub-faction with i think it was Charles Ausburn as the leader of the group

So in summary: Royal Navy: Spik and Spanck with an organized hierarcy that allows one to rule/makes the desicions for all the ones below. Eagle Union: MERICA FUDGE YEAH!! Sakura Emipire: Shrine Maidens giving orders (Now that you mention it I feel like that they are the asian oracles apart from the greek) and the rest are either ww2 or assasins. Iron Blood: "GERMAN TECHNOLOGY IS SUPREME" intensify? Vichy Dominion/Iris Liberation: Holy Pope style monarchy that believes in Popes interpretation of God? The other 2: Russian women is more stronger and Italian Navy basically sunk themselves.

Really appreciate this video. "Sub-factions" are generally how I form fleets just for the fun of it. I've leveled my absolute favorites and the top tiers so I play into these themes to shift how I make my choices. A vanguard of inventors and team pranksters seems pretty cool.

With the kid versions, if I recall (at least from earlier presented content) they're copies of their adult selves but earlier in life when Akashi (and I think Shiranui) experimented with some spare cubes and whatever otherworldly energy contained within was shot out and made contact with their more "combat ready" selves.

I was like oh factions! we gonna have a deep video on how the girl are classified based on their affiliations or beliefs :o Starting with HMS was a good start (french girls was on point too), ok its not a sub-faction video but a theme design one, if there are teachers we need students (both IJN and USS have this theme), the sporty ones seems like a USS thing only tho (no skins only default). Just want to point out a few things: Cheshire is a maid in training, same as Neptune; they mention it in some of their lines. Specifically, when you put them on the same fleet as Belfast or any of the Dido sisters. And I believe they also mention it in the Slow Ahead comics. Black Prince directly states that she chose to be part of the knights instead of the maids, so she's not a maid. Finally, Perceus and her sister aren't maids, they're nobles; their dresses aren't maid uniforms, they're shirogoth lolitas, same as Formidable. Btw, the "child" shipgirls have an in-game explanation; they're the result of Akashi and Yuubari experimenting with a wisdom cube laser beam that, somehow, created "unfinished" version of the shipgirls that got hit with it.

For laffey's sleepiness, its a history reference of how much of what she does is night operations. Cant sleep while in enemy waters, thats for sure

Good stuff. I'd love to hear more about the Sakura Empire's subfactions since they're actively working against each other. Musashi's event clarified the divisions quite a bit, but I missed the earliest events and don't understand how that internal conflict started and why. I think they're telling us that the Sardegnans will experience a similar division with Marco Polo working against Veneto and Littorio (I love how they're basically the king of Italy and Mussolini, respectively), but all we've gotten is months of buildup and Marco Polo still seems to be working alone. HMS Black Prince may belong with Bellona, or maybe in the royal family group based on her namesake. One of her quotes starts with, "A Maid? Me? Certainly not..." Though in other quotes she seems to try to play the part, just not very well. Not trying to pick apart your list, I'm just into her and have wondered about her role. Ooh, one more subfaction - the Weimar Republic ships, Königsberg, Karlsruhe, Köln, and Leipzig have a distinct aesthetic. Leipzig is in the same class as Nürnberg, but the latter was built a few years later under the Third Reich. The fact that Leipzig looks more like the older ships than her sister justifies grouping those '20s ships together, imo. And of course we have the WWI-era Ironblood ships but that's obvious. I suppose the Dragon Empery ships can be similarly split into ROCS and PRAN subfactions.

This was a fun video! You could've mentioned from the Northern Parliament the girls that have standard rigging and the siren-infused riggings. Like how Avrora has a pretty basic rigging yet Chapayev and Kirov have monstrous looking rigs. Maybe for a sequel video since NP girls have been getting crazy rigs this year, I'm looking at you Voroshilov

Some skills I've noticed like Ashen Might or Font of Logic (I think that's what it's called) might suggest that certain timelines lead to differing goals for those who underwent Metamorphosis...

In the Northern Parliament there are ships without Siren technology based riggings, like Avrora and Pamiat. Couldn't this count as a subfaction aswell? I think this was explained during the Northern Overture event

Probably ought have included Bremerton in the Gyaru subfaction... As for Sakura they seem to have the Shrine Maidens, The Youkai and the.. the... I'll call it... "Naval/Military tradition" style which you could also include the Schoolgirl outfit designs in with that. As for Iron Blood you really seem to have missed on them. Although it more comes to those with familiars and those without. Of the familiars you get Sharks and Dragons, with the subs seems to mount sharks more frequently and the larger battleships and heavy cruisers having Dragon Familiars like Prinz Heinrich's Eisen.

While they don't seem to have any official leader/hierarchy (one assumes a democratic system) if I had to name an EU character as the faction leader it would be Yorktown, thought Saratoga was also shown to be influential in the story, being the main EU represantative talking with the likes of QE and the Commander. 8:24 I once saw something that divided the Ninja shipgirls into types. IIRC it was something like "Kuroshio is a kunoichi, Akatsuki is a shinobi, Kirishima is larping". Also Nagato is the (nominal) leader as Flagship of the Combined Fleet while Mikasa is the former Flagship of the Combined Fleet and greatly respected as basically a retired veteran. While Yamato is not in the game, Nagato mentions that she gave the job of being the Flagship to her. The Yamato class is definitly important as as both of the two that are in the game seem to hold important positions. I remember a mention of "higher ups" as well, not sure if this means a non-shipgirl command structure/government or refers to the Yamato class. 9:55 if we are talking hierarchy, There is Deutschland's "Spiritual Leader" stuff. Thought mainly Bismarck and Friedrich are the leaders, with Eugen being another important higher up, Z-2 being something of an assistant to Eugen. As another comment mentioned the Weimar ships (K class cruisers, Leipzig) have aesthetic differences both in outfits and rigging, and there are also the WW1 Imperial German Navy High Seas Fleet shipgirls. 10:25 There is also the ROC-PRAN/PLAN distinction. With the An Shan class ex-Soviet destroyers being Peoples Liberation Army Navy instead of Republic of China Navy ships. 11:06 Most French ships seem to mention being some sort of knight. Not shipgirls but a Holy See and Tribunal are mentioned in the event stories. 12:00 Abruzzia is a noble? Otherwise yeah, not much to say for their designs. Not subfaction but for hierarchy, Soyuz seems like the leader of Northern Parliament (thought Avrora is also very important), Vittorio Veneto is the Eternal Flagship, thought Littorio is also very involved in leadership (kind of like Akagi in that case). A Senate that VV and Littorio don't seem to get along with was also mentioned.

Interesting attempt, but my main issue is with your Sakura classification, I agree only in the shrine maidens faction, Sakura empire appears to be a theocracy, in which the main shrine maiden is Nagato, so she's at the top, at least in appearance, because just like the real empire of Japan during WW2, Sakura Empire has some really hefty power struggle issues, showed by the intrigues of akagi and her faction, the very clear conflict with Mikasa and her combined fleet, and the Yamato class and their followers, I'm not completely set on a clear picture but the Sakura empire seems the most interesting in terms of structure due to their differences and complexity, but roughly would look like this: Nagato and her attendants as shrine maidens, followed by nobles like the Yamato class and then powerful military hierarchs like Akagi and Mikasa that use the military's power to influence politics just like real life ww2 Japan

Very good video, but I would like to state my opinion: I think a universal faction that is large enough to note is the "Devils" of Azur Lane. You breezed over a couple in the Sak Emp, but I think they are a little more notable than that. There are, of course, the Oni in Sak Emp with their little horns as you mentioned. However, Iron Blood also has some very noteworthy ones, such as Agir, Friedrich Der Grosse, and Augustus von Parseval. There are of course others, but these are the ones that come to mind. What do you think, would you group such ships under the Robo tag you created? Or do you think my opinion has some merit to it?

Love the explanations, great work. Just one thing i feel is bit off. I dont think Perseus and Theseus are maids. Their demeanor, skill set and overal theme doesnt fit and even their clothes are more reminiscent of old (18-19th century) hospital nurse clothes than maid outfits, looking much more similar to Jervis´s outfit.

The only potential class system for Northern Parliament is the ships girls that all received siren tech riggings and who hasn't. It used to be just Avrora and Paimat who had traditional riggings as they were older ships, but after Paimats Retrofit, she got the improved rigging. It's also somewhat noted the Northern Parliament girls fight for revolution and tearing down power structures lol. But it's mainly the Soyuz class of ships that seem to be calling the shots.

Just one, rest of fleets were divided by functions: 1st - Line Forces, 2nd - Recon Forces, 4th - Outer Sea Connection, 1st Aircraft Fleet - Striking Aircraft Connection etc.. Think it's also worth mentioning that New Castle was the former head maid, before she was replaced by Belfast. Edit: And later into the video, the chronic sleepers. Specifically, laffey(mostly because you challenged my waifu by saying she's lazy(admittedly, she can and will, but still), and I will defend her, but also, I have my own head canon explanation, given Laffey also fits into the chronic drinkers category of shipgirls). While laffey is... Admittedly lazy, there's also a method to her madness. See, laffey is a ship who, like several other ships in the AL universe, remembers their past life. Laffey fought *Hiei* in a night action, among other ships, in Guadalcanal, before her demise. And I think Laffey has a case of minor trauma/PTSD associated with that memory, and takes to sleeping and drinking(to an unhealthy amount) to not have to deal with reality/the memories of that night. When you reach affinity love with her, she sheds that fear in favor of protecting you. So you do help with her problems just by existing. Or at least, that's *my* headcanon. I could absolutely be misreading all the things and she just does all I said before because she can.

I think one faction missed in the Eagle Union is the militarized or patriot faction. Ship girls that are more or less dedicated to the military faction of the Eagle Union in loyalty and performing one duty to the state. Their appearance is they are the non-idols that often wear military uniforms or portions of one and have personalities that are more serries on and off the battlefield, can be extremely stubborn in leaving a job half done, and either act as mentors to less experienced units or are highly competitive while not losing their head. Examples off the top of my head are Yorktown, Enterprise, Essex, California, Casablanca, and Honolulu. This faction could also be split further into the Vets and New Blood. With Yorktown, Enterprise, and California are examples of the former, and Essex and Casablanca are the latter. Honolulu may lean more toward veteran.

I would have thought the Little Beavers of the Eagle Union Fletcher's might have got a mention. While not a 'sub-class' specifically it was a real-world squadron and does get specific mentions in speech lines. I know in game it's more a 'club' than a faction though.

So 2 things about the "smol" sub-faction: 1) I think you forgot Zeppy you monster :P 2) I believe in lore it is explained that they attempted to cut the Wisdom cube, maybe to try and make copies or learn more about it, and in turn only part of the ships memory and power was actually harnessed to create them. This is why the "smol" ships are 1 rarity below [generally] and also why they tend not to know the full history of there ship [at least they don't seem to]

I believe that the little shipgirls are the ship pre-commissioning, before the ships are officially warships of their faction and are on the shakedown cruise. There is a time of 1-2 months to even a year after a warship launches before it is officially "accepted" by the nation that ordered it. The shakedown cruise is where they stress test all systems on the ship to see if it meets the official standards of the design, and fix it if it falls short.

Personally I think that the USS should have another sub-faction of commanders/comanding officer (C.O) or something of the sort. but seeing as how the lore kinda treats the hierarchy of the faction (cough cough pre-retrofit saratoga still somehow being leader/second in command) i doubt it would be that distinct

I hate to break it to you, but your idea of Sub-Factions is totally of the mark. I the Event Violet Tempest, Blooming Lycoris where Musashi was realeased we learn that the Sakura Empire has at lest 4 Sub-Factions that are lead by Musahi (Yamato), Nagato, Akagi and Mikasa. With all of them having different Ideals, with are the focus of that event story and the Shipgirls part of any particular faction arent simply sortet by desing but mostly by the time period in with they served in the accual war. Even in Iron Blood there are different Sub-Factions with there own agendas. Like Bismarcks faction, Eugens faction and Friderichs factions. While they all come together under Bismarck leadership as a whole they still have Sub-Factions. In the case of the Royal Navy and Eagle Union they are much more monolithic ans if such sub factions exists they arent as apperent. In the Eagle Union grouping ships by desings is reductive as it deminishes the Individuality many of its ships are displaying and the confarmati as you pointed uot only really exist in context of ship classes like Essxes or Baltimore. The Royal Navy would also have other Factions like Valiants faction supporting her claim to the throne. I also want to mention that the Royal Maids are not benithe the Nobles as the are the ROYAL maids. the are neither above nor below nor are they the nobles equals. They simply serve the Royal House. And of cause if the serve in a fleet they are subject to the current fleets command structure, but out side they only serve the Royal House and not the Nobles unless there are some maids specificly mentioned as a noblewomans maid.
