Welcome to Auto Chatter! Todays topic is the Chevrolet and GMC Suburban. Plus the Yukon XL as GMC decided to change the name on theirs for Y2k. These large and in charge people movers have been around since 1935! Indiana Jones may have owned one! There are 12 generations to cover in about 20 minutes, but I feel up to the challenge!

My family had an ‘01 Yukon back in the day. Super reliable with only basic maintenance. It got up to a tick over 400k miles and was still running when they sold it. The 5300 Vortec engine was bulletproof.

Yeah the 5.3 was a good design and used to be plentiful and cheap if you need a junkyard one

Thank you for the video.. Holden had a version in the 1990's. It was right hand drive. It had the Suburban body with the midsized Blazer instrumentation panel.

@@autochatter I have a Holden book in my home plus I like Holden as a GM brand and like Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Cadillac and other GM brands as well as Mercury and Lincoln over at Ford and some Chryslers( Imperial and New Yorker). I have learned these cars over the years. I found your channel as it came up in my You Tube feed. I watched your Opel video first and went into your channel and watched more. I subscribed today after the Opel video. There more to the GM history. There are a lot Holden Suburban videos here on You Tube. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aM58qaV62KqdmIU.html

I'm interested in anything and everything related to your 2001 suburban. I owned a 2001 2wd 1500 that had 380k miles when someone pulled infront of me and totalled it. I currently daily drive a 2003 4wd 1500 that has just shy of 370k, neither had any engine failures. My 4wd is currently on its 3rd transmission, but I now kno2 the correct way to use the transmission when towing. Also on 4th fuel pump, and most other wear and tear parts have only be3n replaced once. Only engine component to receiver a replacement has been the water pump and spark plugs. Not even a coil has failed. My wife has had her 2007 escalade and her 2011 suburban both fail due to afm system. Yet I would still not hesitate to drive it 1500+ miles to her sisters house in Texas, from Pennsylvania. It has failed on the road, but has never not brought me home with that failure.

My family has had a 2004 Suburban for over 10 years now. Been on tons of trips. Feel like that generation is the most common. It's been good mostly. But it has had too many issues for us to consider another GM or other American brands again. My dad was a GM guy but not anymore. We have bought Toyota products the last several times that don't give us issues. I still have a love for that specific car. But not Chevrolet in general. The first generation and cars from the time period look a lot like crossovers today. Lifted ride height and all. SUVs like this are status symbols of excess. Especially the new ones. We bought our used and they had no where near as many features. I don't understand really why the pricing for all three Chevy. GMC, and Escalde models is so close. They might me signs of excess but so would a S Class or any other car at this price. These are just more practical.

@ProwAt I know...Its been around a long time.It just wasn't continously made like the Suburban was that's all. The Beetle was the longest running single model ever.

The 2023 Suburban costs $56900, and the 1935 Suburban costed $14950, that's nearly 4 times times the price! Imagine if they selled the 2023 Suburban at $15-17K, it would be a lot simpler and basic than today's one, but everyone would buy it anyways.
