the rear shock is the key to ease of handling and grip (ease of leaning side to side) and is complemented by the fork upgrade for feel and comfort.. The first thing to upgrade gen1 & 2 :).. to get a Shock which has ride height adjustment with 10 mm to 15mm range

20 kgs is a huge amount of weight savings in a naked bike. And at the same time I'm adding weight to my Duke to prepare it for my trip to Austria..

It's good to see that all the extras are worth the money spent on your bike and the weight saving is great keep on modding 😍👌

Hey Lamb Chop, I recently fit a set of carbon wheels to my MT09, and the difference is amazing. The bike is definitely more nimble due to the lighter weight wheels. And some of that performance "snap" that you were talking about is due to the wheels, with the carbons my bike feels much perkier from right down in the rev range. The suspension is also more supple with the lighter unsprung weight as if I had done a suspension upgrade. Would be interested to get an update on how your bike has changed when you go back to the original wheels if you get around to doing that.

The Rottweiler Performance stage 6 package completely changed the bike for me. I'm going to update suspension so it handles a bit snappier. All in all, I love the gen 2.

I wouldn't exactly call that a fair comparison. As your 1.0 is heavily modded and his is almost stock. I would like to see you compare a stock 1.0 to yours though. Not to mention you have to be biased on your bike as it is a labor of your love. Cheers!

I definitely prefer look of gen 1 but as you said electronics on gen 2 are better especially quick shifter. Spent last weekend in Spain, great ride in the sun. Did you say on the 1.0 to wheelie you have to turn all electronics off????? So no rider aids if u want to wheelie? Debating between a 1.0 SD and another MT10 and of you need to shit all electronics off to wheelie that as big one for me. On the king of supernakeds it's wheelies and more wheelies but being the king I wouldn't dare shut the electronics off on a 1300cc KTM. How reliable and expensive to maintain are the 1.0's? )'14-'15)? In general or maybe compared to the MT10 ? Saw a comment on one of your other SD videos that said his '15 1190 has 45,000 miles! Amazing! Assuming that means they are reliable? I know the aprilia v4's aren't known for reliability and very expensive to maintain and service (in the US anyway). Loved the crazy reliability of my last '17 FZ10 (MT10 ) 2 years and a ton of miles with not one issue and parts are obviously cheap. If anyone reading this has any knowledge of my question I'd love the input. Trying to make a decision between the SD 1290r 1.0 and a new MT10. Unfortunately the MT10's in the US are more than the rest of the world ($13,00 US) got my last one new for $9,200 but was pure luck becaue a dealer in California ordered 9 in the grey/yellow color at the Launch and hadn't sold one when I called them so got a steal. But at $13k for the FZ10 , a 2014-15 SD is around $14k , similarly priced but obviously 4 years older but it's a superduke!!! Will say I'd miss cruise control though lol. And FYI my last FZ10 I did y-pipe, race filter and flash , was at 181 hp which was stupid fast , so not as weak compared to the duke as a stock one. Figured I'd mention that so I don't get Responses saying the MT10 is noticeable slower. Less TRQ I know. Opinions anyone?

Nice video Lamb, glad to see the Baron out of his 44teeth format. 😉 Was owning a 2016 1290SDR full standard & had a 2017 1290SDR 2.0 standard (but with performance & track pack) for a week, and my feeling is that the 2.0 is better everywhere: No snatchy throttle, much better brake feeling, ABS & TC, excellent "memorized" FI mapping with less engine brake, more stable, better suspension, not mentioning TFT dash, nightlight switches, etc... But you made of yours a real "Hooligan" beautiful machine & that's what matters !!! 😈 Ride Safe... ✌️✌️✌️

You have CF wheels on the 1.0. That makes a huge difference in the feeling or the "lightness" you described. Otherwise I thought the two felt the same. Honestly though upgrading to the 2.0 makes no difference unless you absolutely must have a downblipper and TFT screen.

Tyres are always such a personal choice. I’ve been using M7RR for a good few years and can’t fault them. Tony Rutter did a 125mph lap of the IOM TT course recently on M7RR without warmers set at 35/32 road pressures! I’m interested to hear what you go for..

1 you have the billet front end, the rims and suspension just one of the 3 would make a difference. on top of that you have a tune and rotti intake... you've kind of trashed the 2.0 in a unfair comparison...

Not into the keyless crap. Not into the LCD dashboard. Could do without all the new electronic dependencies. Other than that I REALLY like the looks and the updated mechanical stuff. I hear that KTM isn't responsible for a lot of the electrical problems that can be had on that bike? If so that's a bummer.
