🌳🌰🌳The Sweet Chestnut Trees 🌳🌰🌳
The Sweet Chestnut Trees are fantastic trees each autumn blessing us with an abundance of their delicious sweet chestnuts 🌰 Traditionally roasted over open fires or boiled into soup's the sweet chestnuts have long been adored by both people & wildlife all throughout history. Historically used for both food & medicine sweet chestnuts are a nutritional powerhouse packed full of everything we need to live 💚 But here's where the sweet chestnut tree gets even more interesting, because the leaves of this tree used since the days of ancient Greeks to treat infections have now been found to contain a molecule new to science. This special molecule growing naturally within the tree's leaves has been found to have the power to neutralise even the strongest strains of the antibiotic resistant superbug known as MRSA 🌳🌰

There is a beutiful legend concerning the sweet chestnut tree. When the Spanish Armada suffered big losses due to storms in 1588 on the Irish coast, many drowned Spanish sailors washed ahore. One of them had sweet chestnut in his pockets snd he was buried in a cemetery. One of the chesnuts in hid pocket germinated. The tree was called the Spanish Armada Tree. It died in 2020 almost 500 years old.

We tried foraging sweet chestnuts last Autumn in several areas in North East Ireland but all the chestnuts were tiny or flat like you showed... I read that our climate isn't warm enough, is that the case?? BTW I just received your book today its absolutely fantastic and will be our home Ed Bible 😁😘
@homeiswhereourheartis

Not sure about the climate being the reason. Somtimes you can get an entire tree that's simply not that great 🙂 Glad you like our book! If you could leave us a review on amazon we'd be grateful 😁

There is a chestnut that is poison and doesn't have the point on the bottom of the round nutshell, and has a bumpy and not spiny? hull... I know a chestnut tree with partially a spiny hulls and faint hint of a point on nut bottom. Could it be a hybrid?? I read up on chestnuts before I ate one!

Thank you for your wonderful videos! I am blessed; I have a pair of huge sweet chestnut trees growing at the back of my property in Western Washington state, USA. As far as I know, they were planted here in the 1960s. Each spring, my trees literally hum from all the bees that come to pollinate the flowers. In fall, people and racoons come to get chestnuts every year. The pokey outer seed coverings are a pain (literally), but the chestnuts are worth it. Until today, I didn't know the trees also have medicinal value. Thank you and Blessed Be! *NOTE to Home Is Where Our Heart Is:* Please don't use an apostrophe to make a word plural; the apostrophe is properly used to show possession (ownership) or a contraction (where you leave off a letter) as in *Pam's* cat or *don't* do that.
