that’s true. I mean, I lost my dog Lili after I angered her by trying to get her attention/touch her and she almost hurt me. I was a baby so of course I don’t remember it but it still stings It’s best to be cautious, it always is. Even if your dog is rlly sweet, I would still have someone around to watch them around kids so they can still interact and the kid can form a relationship with that animal

@@retrofruitcake6030 yes and thank Allah you were not hurt, it takes only one snap..imagine if they deformed the face etc.. etc.. but as you said, if they do it, at least they should be near them, especially in the introduction face, once the boy or girl act very well with the dog, and form a stronger bond, then one may lower his worries by 1 percentage.. from 100% to 99% because kids are still kids and vulnerable.

We were told she was a ~3 year old German Shepherd. We had owned several GS so almost immediately we were perplexed by her behavior and mannerisms. She was NOTHING like our previous GS!! One day someone came to our house to work on my husband’s car and sweet Gretchen (German name for a GS 🤣, right?) greeted him warmly. The man said, “Wow, that is one gorgeous Belgian Malinois!” 😳 WHAT? I said, “Spell that please!” A quick internet search later and voila, all her quirks and oddities were explained! She wasn’t acting like a GS because she wasn’t a GS! GS and BM may look a lot a like, but their personalities are nothing alike! 🤣 Like every breed, BM are wonderful dogs, but they have traits that some people might find difficult. I instantly fell in love with Gretchen, so no matter her quirks, she was mine for life…but I will not get another BM. They are a young person’s breed, and I am almost 60. When I no long feel the squeeze in my heart, like I am cheating on Gretchen, I will probably get another dog. I like getting rescues. I feel two lives are helped when you rescue an animal. I have had on my heart to get a pittie mix because I think they are so maligned, but a pittie mix who is on the smaller side, like 20-30#, as I am not getting any younger. I guess we will see.

Really hate to hear that, i am not guaranteeing the same results but when my 1st blue pit died out of nowhere the only way i was able to cope was by getting another blue pit bull male even gave him the same name, they both ended up losing their lives way too soon.

By the time a child understands anything they have already learned by watching…the dogs aren’t some expensive China, they won’t shatter….there’s a big difference between abuse, purposeful pain infliction, or growing and learning… Dogs are intuitive… we’re the ones who are weak and making dogs weak with their support toys🙄🙄 It’s like everybody went to school to learn how to be a bubble boy….

You’re so spot on and it really warms my heart and makes my soul smile to see so many people recognizing this in these comments. There’s so much negativity on social media that when I see a really positive comment thread like this it really stands out and affects me in a special way. People are so capable of showing love and gentleness and compassion and empathy but so many of us shut ourselves off in boxes and put up walls. I wish that many of us could embrace the lessons that other species of animal teach us every day. And the ones that do really set a positive example for those around them. Not everyone is bad, and I think many people are just scared and frustrated and feel backed into a corner and like they don’t have any options, which is understandable, but I think if we embraced each other and practiced empathy and compassion and understanding more often, even in simple small ways just in every day life with the people existing around us, our communities and towns and society would become so much stronger and closer knit, and together we could overcome those challenges and lack of choices that have so many of us backed against a wall feeling like there is no way out. I think dogs and cats are really good at showing the positive effects of things like this in the ways that they live their lives with other animals, and with humans too. They don’t expect anything, they don’t want to take anything, they find joy and connection in the small simple things like running or playing with a toy with each other or with their owners. They love and just want to be loved and they don’t leech the energy out of the world around them. And when you love them you immediately get love back without failure every single time. It makes me sad because there’s a really important reason why the majority of people say they’d rather spend their time with their dogs or cats or other animals than with other humans and I wish we as a society haven’t been led down this path of self righteous isolationism and the “everyone is bad except me, and it’s me verses everyone else” mentality that is keeping us separate from each other; that hyper focuses on our minor semantical differences and minimizes our collective similarities. Humans, just like dogs, cats, primates, and many other mammals are naturally social pack creatures, and this path of individualist culture that we’ve strayed down is fighting against our true nature. We don’t do well accomplishing major goals and having positive outcomes without communities of support and love and kindness. And people wonder why so many of us are sick or mentally ill, or suffering or alone or projecting all of our pent up repressed frustration onto everyone that crosses their paths. Individual people are not supposed to constantly be at war with total strangers. And in turn we as individuals are creating war against ourselves. We could learn so much from these animals if we stepped back and looked at the bigger picture, and stopped expecting so much from the world around us. Maybe if anyone out there reads this we can all try to make it a goal to do consistent small acts of kindness for total strangers without expecting anything in return, or to live our lives spreading more compassion, so that we don’t doom ourselves to a perpetual world of hatred and suffering, and so that we can build a better place for ourselves, each other and our wonderful four legged partners. Except when they’re not. One lives across from me and the owner allows it to run free from her garage to the house. It came charging at me and my 2 chihuahuas when I screamed as loudly as I could while trying to protect my dogs. She knows it’s violent; it’s behind chain link fencing. But she still lets it run free, so it’s just a matter of time……

They can be but, such a powerfull dog needs a responsible owner and a proper training.

You get out what you put in. My roommates adopted a stray when our kids were toddlers, ((about25 years ago) crated him as a precaution the first couple weeks. He was a smart dog, figured out quickly he'd been rescued and was surrounded by love. Pretty soon he had the little ones sleeping on him. Lamont, we love and honor you still!

@@sherryblanton2029 I was also raised doing rescue work and by the time I was six we were washing animal bowls, by nine I was helping feed the older babies, and by ten to eleven I was popping out bot flies. Now at 24 I can do pretty much everything by myself if I wanted to.

A dog is not a baby, it is a dog or if it is a younger dog then it is called a puppy, just saying so that it is accurate.

They are without a doubt the sweetest breed of dog I've ever been around. They are big, goofy sweethearts.
