Last week, I worked on benchwork on both sides of the room. This time, I'll create the first of the long ramps up from the lower staging yard.

The client in Sydney must have an airplane hanger to house this layout!

Lovely work. Every time I see your benchwork I wonder why did I go with L girder then I remember how expensive plywood is a sheet down here.
@mpeterll
@mpeterll Ай бұрын
L-girder is no good for a double-deck layout or for anything that may need to be relocated.

It'll take a while to get trains in and out of the lower staging - that's a loooong run! I imagine the other end will be similar.
@mpeterll
@mpeterll Ай бұрын
That's only the overflow staging area, for trains that don't run very often. The main staging yard is directly above it, accessed without long hidden runs.

It's a 40x60' shop building (about 39x59 inside) I made a series of videos covering the construction of it last year.

Your benchwork, especially the two level joists, are amazing. What glue do you use to install the foam to the wood and is it the same glue to adhere the track to the foam road bed you sell and would you use the same glue if you were using cork?
@mpeterll
@mpeterll Ай бұрын
The foam I'm using is the same stuff that I sell on my web-site. It doesn't need glue as it has a peel-n-stick adhesive backing. I don't use cork, It has a tendency to swell up during the ballasting operation.

I'm surprised you have modified some levels to use for specific grades so you don't need to guess

Have you considered a digital level to set on top of your long level and using shims/blocks to get the desired 'Grade'?
