he also hurt the feelings of his employee the Syrian Lady when he told the translator to direct all the questions for himself since he was the designer for you could tell from her face that she was affected by his arrogance however hailey told all the employees a nice meeting you all and gave a nice glance to the Syrian Lady

Beading is and was everything in Syria. I bought Al my beaded trim in the silk Souk in Damascus but the meter. Women who needed to supplement their income took glass beading home by the kilo to creat the fine textiles and trim. As an American Syrian designer I thank this program for respecting the Syrian men and women’s contribution to this fashion industry.

My childhood best friend is first generation Lebanese American, and I can attest that Lebanese people LOVE sparkle and detail. One of her two wedding dresses (yes I said two. Her husband is Korean; so when they got married they had two, traditional weddings for each of their cultures) was bedazzled to high Heaven.

Incredible how fashion reporting can tell us so much about the complexities of this region! I was particularly taken aback by the Hezbollah advocate/fashion designer who bragged about treating her Syrian tailor kindly, the cognitive dissonance was deafening. Thank you for trying to allow these wildly skilled, displaced people to have a voice amid the oppression and discrimination they face from their neighbours and employers.

Fashion has long been a socio-political expression, especially more so in a part of the world where a given haircut or beard style can give away one's ideological stance.

I ve been based in Lebanon for the last three years and I m sad to say that since this was filmed ( obviously before the 2019 financial crush in Lebanon) the situation of Syrian refugees is way worst today. 9 out of each 10 refugee families are living in acute poverty, children are no longer able to access schools as the lebanese state is without means to offer basic services for its citizens nor the refugees. Syrians, especially refugees, have are going through hell for over 12 years and sadely this is not likely to change anytime soon

The life of a refugee is rough, and to hire them at lower wages, then pat yourself on the back for being “so nice” is cruel. And then there’s the truth spinning to save face, like that one guy who said the curfew was a “polite suggestion.” You must think you’re a good person, because you told yourself so!

Lebanon is the capital of fashion in the Mediterranean, and they have the best Hate couture designers in the world. Lebanese have their fashion expertise and don't need any help from anyone. There Syrians are learning in Lebanon about fashion, and the Lebanese are helping the Syrian refugees as much as they can. In Egypt, Syrians are suffering and Egyptians are asking them to leave. In the last 3 weeks, I've seen more than 10 Egyptian vidios on KZfaq asking Syrians to leave their country.

Not true, half christian. They called Lebanon the Switzerland of the Middle East because of its banking system and not because of the mountains. A banking system that made it a tax heaven for rich Middle Easterners. Lebanon was an economically “third world” country in the 60's; 70's like other coutries in Asia; Africa and south america
